Overview: As a Life Skills Coach, you become an important part in the lives of youth aged 17-21 as they navigate the intricate journey of transitioning out of foster care. In this influential position, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of building relationships with youth that need positive and supportive people in their lives. Education and Experience: The Life Skills Coach must be 21 years of age or older and meet one of the following requirements. A baccalaureate degree in any field or currently working toward a baccalaureate degree. A high school diploma or equivalency and one year experience working with / mentoring youth or adults. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be knowledgeable of the effects of abuse/neglect on development for youth and be able to work effectively with socially or emotionally maladjusted youth. Must possess above average listening skills, verbal / written communication skills, and organizational skills. Must be successful at motivating others to look introspectively, outline options, and guide others with step-by-step instructions to reach specified goals. Duties and responsibilities: Providing transportation for education, employment, appointments and social outings as requested. Assisting with the completion of curfew checks. Creating casual environments one on one or with peers that lead to the development of trust and positive relationships. Providing life skills instruction in regular meetings and trainings, through resources such as the CASEY Life Skills Assessment, the Daily Living Skills Assessment, and the Life Centered Education curriculum. Preparing verbal and written reports documenting interactions with program youth for case manager. Collaborating closely with the caseworker, child-placing supervisor, and other involved parties in providing continuity of care. Supervising youth in independent living arrangements; Educating and counseling by guiding the youth and developing a supportive relationship that promotes the service plan Participating in other duties as assigned. Job Type: Part-time Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour Schedule: 4 hour shift Evening shift Weekends as needed License/Certification: Driver's License (Required) Work Location: In person
