General Definition of Work To provide probation supervision and assessment services to offenders referred by the courts to ensure their compliance with the conditions of probation imposed by the court.
Essential Functions 1. Employ approved interview techniques and assessment procedures necessary to determine the offenders level of competency and need..
2. Review motor vehicle and criminal records, medical records, treatment reports and social histories to assess appropriate levels of supervision.
3. Determine probable substance abuse behavioral patterns.
4. Apply approved classification tools to determine levels of substance abuse intervention and services.
5. Supervise and monitor offender progress completing required intervention and sanctions imposed by the court.
6. Complete required breath testing and drug screening.
7. Prepare and compose written reports to the court concerning the probationer's progress and adjustment to probation.
8. Maintain orderly files and case records.
9. Fully utilize state-approved and guided computerized programs (TREDS, DMV) to track and monitor offender progress with VASAP and Ignition Interlock.
10. Provide testimony to the courts as required.
11. Be effective in handling confrontation.
12. Be effective in working with people individually and in group settings.
13. Collaborate with worksites to monitor community service.
14. Such other duties as may be assigned by the Director.
Qualification Requirements Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, or related human service field Required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge and experience in interviewing practices and procedures
Knowledge of the personal and social dynamics of substance abuse
Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer programs and computer-based data entry
Ability to interpret regulations, guidelines and statues
Knowledge of the court system
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in office settings
Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks
Minimum of two years previous experience required working in probation/parole, law enforcement, and/or case management in a human services field. Previous experience working in VASAP is preferred.
Special Requirements Must have a minimum of 2 years probation and/or previous case management experience. Bachelor's degree required in human services.
