This Tour Foreman role supervises union hourly employees in assigned areas to meet daily production goals by providing direction to plant production employees, reporting and addressing safety concerns, and monitoring the production processes.
How you will impact Ingevity:
• Monitor all areas of the plant (production, maintenance, lab, and warehouse) to ensure safety, environmental, and production issues are being addressed
• Ensuring the production plans are being followed and any deviations from the plant are being corrected and supervision is notified (including quality issues)
• Manages break-in work and coordinates for maintenance during non-daylight and weekend shifts
• Review process trends and operator notes. Address/correct any issues related to safety, environmental, and quality
• Walks through process, inspect equipment, and ensure all issues are addressed
• Lead and assist operators with troubleshooting as necessary to ensure production problems are resolved in a timely manner
• Supervises all hourly personnel on shift. Provide feedback and coaching. Participate in discipline process
• Frequently required to identify and update/modify methods without the benefit of defined procedures
• May initiate contact to resolve and discuss mutual problems or collaborate on procedures or transactions
• Conducting weekly inspections of the workplace to identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards.
• Providing information and documentation of "exceptions" related to on shift activities (downtime, abnormalities)
• Managing inventories of consumable goods needed to run the process (pallets, tooling, packaging)
• Completing daily reports
• Contact employees as scheduling needs arise and record schedule information for human resources personnel
• Other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed:
• Minimum 5 years' experience in manufacturing environment, production, supervision experience preferred, technical degree a plus
• Minimum 2 year supervising hourly union employees preferred
• Ability to problem solve, effective decision making, experience in training others, and be effective at leading individuals and groups toward resolution of issues
• Knowledge of maintenance processes including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation.
• Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations and principles
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs, climb ladders, work at heights, stand and walk for long periods of time, and work outdoors in hot and cold weather
• Computer use/sitting for several hours
• Sit/stand for up to 12 hours
Work environment:
• Much of this work will take place out in the outdoor plant environment. There is also office work that is necessary to complete daily. Approximately a 50/50 split.
