* Job Details * Organization Job Details Professional-in-Residence in Film Production Location: Lexington, VA Open Date: Apr 10, 2024 Description: The Washington and Lee University Department of Journalism and Mass Communications, in cooperation with the Department of Theater, Dance, and Film, invites applications for a two-year appointment as a professional-in-residence in film production, beginning July 1, 2024, or by mid-August, or, after Jan. 1, 2025. Candidates should be prepared to teach three courses per year, a combination of existing courses and new ones the professional-in-residence can create. The successful candidate would also serve as a mentor to film students, teach a master class, one-time seminar or other ways of sharing your expertise. That expertise should include being an experienced and accomplished mid-career film production professional in one or more of these crafts: directing, producing, editing, screenwriting, lighting, production management, cinematography, and other, related fields within the art and science of film production. Students take film courses in the Departments of English, Journalism and Mass Communication, Theater, Dance & Film, and others.
Additional Information
Qualifications: A master’s degree is preferred, in combination with significant experience in some aspect of film production. Other qualifications: the ability to teach specific courses or subject areas, and the creativity to design a new course, plus mentoring students and serving as a resource to the students and university community. Teaching experience desired, but not required. Candidates need to be on campus from mid-August through late April of each academic year.
