Full job description
Little Sprouts is looking to add a qualified and dedicated staff to our team in our Older Toddler Room! Little Sprouts has a focus on nature based play and features an outdoor classroom garden and chickens which the children take care of. We have a LARGE playground and place emphasis on outdoor play. We offer a very, at-home feeling in our classroom environments. Teachers are in charge of creating their own lesson plans and weekly themes.
Job Description:
Teachers are primarily responsible for the classroom of children. The size of the group is determined by the age of the children in that classroom. For example, in an infant room if there are 8 infants you are responsible for the entire class of 8, and also the primary caregiver for up to 4 of those infants.
Responsibilities:
• Supervising children
• Planning and implementing daily program activities
• Coordinating activities of assistant teachers
• Assisting the director with designated activities
• Communicating with parents about child’s day
• Scheduling parent-teacher conferences for children in your primary care group
• Ability and willingness to change diapers
• Ability and willingness to go on field trips
• Obtains required continuing education hours and maintains necessary documentation.
• Attends staff meetings, required trainings, and other center events.
• Demonstrates knowledge of ages and stages of development. Understands the general areas of physical, social, cognitive and emotional development for designated age group.
• Flexibility and openness to new ideas in child care practices.
• Establishes and maintains relationships of cooperation and respect with all staff and families.
• Takes initiative and shares the work load
• Offers and shares ideas and materials with all co-workers.
• Staff communicates with each other to ensure smooth operations.
• Collaborates with families and community agencies to assure smooth child transitions.
• Any other tasks assigned at the discretion of the director
• Abides by all stated Little Sprouts Early Learning Center practices and policies as well as all Department of Human Resources Regulations
• Responsible for cleaning the room as posted in the classroom under daily cleaning checklist
• Arriving to work on time and being flexible in weekly work schedule
• Must be knowledgeable with computers, internet, word, paint, and other online sites used for training or documentation purposes
• Arrive to work on time for scheduled shift
• Accepting direction and feedback from director, assistant director, and other staff
• Completing assignments, including but not limited to, lesson plans, newsletters, parent teacher conferences, developmental checklists and checkpoints, observations
o Observing entering and documenting developmental milestones for children in their care group and entering into Gold online/app (or current form of record keeping)
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field along with 2 years’ experience in the early childhood field.
2. Associates degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field along with 2 years of experience in the early childhood/child care

Additional Requirements:
All new hires will have to obtain a physical dated within the last 2 years that states they are cleared to work with children along with a TB test. New Hires must also obtain the following clean background checks upon hire: State Police, Child Abuse, FBI, and National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR)
