2. One week of remote work followed by one week of in-the-office work.

Position Summary
The Systems Engineering division of EITS has an exciting entry-level position that may be a great fit for you. This position has exposure to multiple teams within the division. The role is an exciting blend of meeting with colleagues, playing with bleeding-edge technologies as "proof of concept" projects, and collaborating with peers to setup and/or modify campus services.
Some common tasks this position handles include:
- Deploy and support Office 365 services and server technologies.
- Administration of campus-wide services and infrastructure.
- Monitoring, backups, patching, and server configuration management.
- Develop and maintain written documentation for central services.
- Research and development on service improvements, system architecture changes, and cloud integration opportunities.
- Engage in the Continual Service Improvement process to assess services and identify opportunities for service enhancements.

1. Service Delivery and Administration

a) Responsible for systems administration, including installation of new servers (virtual and physical), patches, specialized software, and built-in server roles and accounts.
b) Support and contribute recommendations surrounding server technologies in a highly complex environment, giving special attention to security issues.
c) Adhere to standards and recommendations for critical functions and services such as system configuration and automated tasks.
d) Collaborate with various functional teams on issues and projects.
e) Gives attention to security issues by discussing best practices with regard to system security. Responds as needed to threats and incidents.
f) Monitor and analyze both performance and resource utilization; recommending mitigation strategies as needed.
g) Respond to and facilitate requests for resource/service changes.
h) Provide assistance with backup/restoration needs and testing.

2. Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities

a) Writes and maintains documentation to assist in the setup, administration, and troubleshooting of managed systems by team of coworkers with varying skill levels.
b) Works with others in EITS to document system policies and procedures.
c) Facilitates knowledge transfer between units inside and outside of EITS .
d) Generate quotes, purchase requests, and justification for procurement of equipment and services.
e) Creates and facilitates change requests for approval on all production systems.
f) Participate in meetings relevant to this position and team across campus.

a) Spend time researching and developing new, innovative technologies for next-generation services for campus.
b) Explore options for addressing current issues or service gaps by connecting to colleagues and peers to discuss methods, technologies, and processes they have used to knowledge-share and/or collaborate on solutions.
c) Engage in the Continual Service Improvement process to regularly assess services and processes to identify opportunities for service enhancements or replacements for Telephone Services or other Windows projects.
d) Assess technologies that could be utilized in our environment to augment current services to better achieve the goals as outlined in the IT Master Plan for campus IT.
