The County of Roanoke's nationally recognized and award-winning Information Technology Department (IT) aligns the County's information technology infrastructure and systems to the needs of the community. Roanoke County IT ensures that its services support Roanoke County by providing technology innovation and information to decision makers. This position offers an opportunity to lead a high-performing team and focus on innovation and continuous improvement. The team takes pride in providing excellent support for over 50 systems, including Public Safety, Tax Revenue, Finance, Human Resources and Payroll applications. Experience in managing these types of systems, projects and teams is preferred, as well as a strong background in functional, technical and data analysis oversight. If you enjoy interacting with technical teams, department and government leaders, and vendors, and balancing multiple priorities and department needs, this job might be a good fit for you.Performs complex technical, professional and administrative work directing the design development, programming, systems analysis and installation of information Systems; liaison between the Application Services Division and other managers/supervisors and senior level management; performs other duties as assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Directs the activities of the application services staff to ensure completion of assigned projects and administers policies.Evaluates work of staff for accuracy and conformity with established procedures.Develops implements and enforces application services procedural and documentation standards.Reviews and makes recommendations on all proposed systems solutions.Analyzes project requests in relation to current and future plans.Establishes and administers a project planning, control and reporting system.Acts as liaison between application services and other managers/supervisors and senior level management.Establishes general schedules and priorities for application services staff.Makes formal presentations orally and in writing.Establishes and maintains vendor management standards and relationshipsAssists with contract negotiations for purchased applications.Advises project team leaders on preparation of estimates, schedules and reports.Prepares annual budget submission, reviews and authorizes expenditures.Performs other duties as assigned.
