Job Duties
This position works dayshift up to 29 hours a week. Maintain appearance of driveway and DMVCC property. Assist in removal of snow and ice from walkways, driveways and entrances by shoveling, salting, use of chemicals, snow blower and plow. Inspect lawn, flowers, shrubs and trees for evidence of insects, fungi and other pests and take appropriate measures for effective control. Plant seeds and bulbs, tree seeding and shrubbery. Weed and thin flowerbeds. Prune trees and trim hedges to advance growth or to improve appearance. Dig up and store bulbs and roots or mulch beds for protection and appearance. Connect sprinkling equipment and water lawns, shrubbery and flowerbeds. Use of all lawn care equipment. Pesticide application and maintain current and accurate pesticide application record and logs. Record routine building repairs to equipment such as beds, wheelchairs, sprinklers, lawn mowers, etc. Refer major problems to Department Director. Drywall patch/repair and room painting. Make routine installations including but not limited to: bulletin boards, lightbulbs, electric cord ends, faucet filters, pluming traps, unplug drains, ice-making machines, water fountains, rood drains and spouts, and outside areas. Clean air handling rooms and other shop areas. Performs other duties as may be assigned that are within the Maintenance department's missions and as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility. This position is considered Essential Personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years' experience in general maintenance/groundskeeping. Valid Virginia Driver's license.
