BioinformaticistKey Role:Support projects through employing efficient and accurate data evaluation techniques, appropriately interpreting novel scenarios with limited support data, placing levels of statistical confidence on data output, and clearly reporting results. Apply advanced consulting, extensive technical expertise, and full industry knowledge. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Work without considerable direction and mentor and supervise team members. Work in a team of molecular biologists, forensic scientists, database specialists, intelligence production and reporting analysts, statisticians, or bioinformaticists to provide solutions to maximize the utility, confidence, and rapid reporting of results for large genomic and proteomic data sets.Basic Qualifications:Experience with supporting technical tasks or projects in a collaborative teaming environmentKnowledge of tools for management, analysis, and interpretation of genomic or proteomic data sets, including sequencingKnowledge of Sanger and next generation DNA sequencing technologies, including 454, Illumina, SOLiD, MinION, PacBio, or Ion TorrentAbility to review, evaluate, and analyze data from samples and provide database entry support Ability to provide computational support for internal bioinformatics objectives, and for ongoing customer-driven projects, including experiment design, genome-wide association studies, analysis of gene expression, algorithm and NGS pipeline development, end user trainings, and client interactionsAbility to interact with clients both on and off-site as requested, and present technical data through presentations and report writingAbility to complete assignments within the designated timeframe and budget, organize assigned activities to maximize efficiency, and alert management when technical or schedule problems ariseAbility to manage, manipulate, and analyze data using a combination of R, Python, UNIX tools, or commercial software, including CLC Genomics WorkbenchAbility to obtain a security clearance Bachelor’s degreeAdditional Qualifications:Knowledge of NGS data processing a plusTS/SCI clearance with a polygraphMaster’s degree in Bioinformatics, Genomics, or Data Science preferred; Doctorate degree in Bioinformatics, Genomics, or Data Science a plusClearance:Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.Create Your Career: Grow With Us Your growth matters to us—that’s why we offer a variety of ways for you to develop your career. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
