Our Berks County Division, located in Reading, PA is currently searching for a Roll Off Driver due to growth!
What You Will Do:
• Safely operate a rear load trash truck according to established routes, municipal territories, servicing all customers as listed on daily route sheets, special orders, and regular work orders
• Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the truck, as well as the helpers assigned to the truck. Assists helpers as necessary with picking up large quantities or unusually heavy items Provide on-the-job training and immediate supervision of driver’s helpers
• Operates the truck in accordance with all local, state, and federal DOT regulations, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. Transports and dumps municipal wastes at a regulated transfer station or approved landfill
• Coordinates regularly with the Dispatcher to ensure all stops are picked up, and to receive any special instructions. Check in with Dispatch prior to completion of route and before returning to the depot
• Obtain load weight tickets and sign for loads
• Maintain any related records required, i.e., driver’s log, route sheets, work orders, special request work, missed pick up logs, etc
• Coordinate with Route Supervisor regarding any pickup that is of questionable material, hazardous materials, overweight or oversized items
• Cleans truck daily to ensure the vehicle meets company expectations to include inside the cab and ensuring that no trash remains in the truck body after completion of the route
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections as outlined in the pre and post trip vehicle condition report. Reports any maintenance issues on the vehicle condition report and report it immediately to the route supervisor or operations manager
• May be required to drive other vehicles for which properly trained and qualified
• Immediately reports to the company and accident, traffic violation, or license suspension
• Other duties as assigned from time to time by route supervisors or company management
You Have:
• A minimum of 2+ years of commercial driving experience.
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
• A valid PA Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class B or equivalent)
• Must meet all required DOT physical and medical requirements and pass a substance abuse screening. As a safety sensitive employee, all drivers are subject to random substance abuse screening under DOT and company policy
• Ability to effectively deal with customers and co-workers
• Requires a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of the vehicle to prevent damage to truck, equipment, or surrounding items
• Ability to sit in the cab of the truck for long periods. Able to bend, stoop, and climb into and out of the vehicle and body unassisted.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds
