Bank of Botetourt is seeking a dynamic candidate to join our marketing team. We are seeking a Marketing Assistant, who is passionate, creative and eager. In this role you will be responsible for analyzing the bank's campaigns to interpret and generate return on investment. Serving and engaging with the local community through financial education and volunteerism throughout the Bank’s footprint and surrounding areas. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Bank's Marketing Department remains updated on the Department emails and various requests along with preparing necessary items for events and community outreach.
Job Responsibilities

Coordinating Financial Education Outreach: Assist in coordinating financial education volunteers and programs for the communities within the Bank’s footprint, including workshops, seminars, and informational sessions. This may involve working with local schools, non-profit organizations, and community groups to develop and promote these programs.
• Coordination of the Marketing Committee: You will assist in creating and updating the agenda and materials for meetings, taking minutes, and ensuring files are always up to date within the Teams files.
• Maintaining promotional items: You will be responsible for working with the Department in maintaining the bank's promotional items, including ensuring that there is enough of each item, keeping an inventory of promotional items, ensuring branding quality, and organizing the storage and facilitation of promotional items. Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
• Assisting with employee engagement: You will assist in facilitating employee engagement initiatives such as surveys, communication, team-building events, and other activities that foster a positive workplace culture.
• Handling service inquiries: You will be responsible for maintaining the Marketing Department email and providing service support where relevant to vendors and industry partners, including answering phone calls and emails, and providing general assistance to customers, civic, non-profit and others on behalf of the Marketing Department.
• Maintaining conference room necessities: You will be responsible for maintaining the conference room necessities, including ensuring that there are enough tissues, paper towels, napkins, plates, plasticware, diverse beverages and a plethora of snacks, maintaining the organization of the storage of refreshments, and coordinating with vendors for catering services when necessary.
• Social Media Analytics: Analyzing social media metrics and reporting.
To be successful in this role, you should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented, and have a passion for community outreach and engagement. Experience in data analysis and department coordination, and financial education is also beneficial. A background in banking or financial services is preferred, but not necessarily required.
Your ability to communicate effectively with both employees and customers will be critical to the success of this role. Your strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously will help ensure that the bank's employees and customers have positive experiences with the bank.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in marketing, business administration or related field, have certificates as a PCM, SEO or similar.
• 2+ years of experience working in marketing, project management or some combination.
• Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage a project from initiation to completion.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Microsoft Office experience required.
• Manage website changes and maintaining current relevant content.
• Maintain excel spreadsheets and databases for all general ledger accounts associated with marketing and donations for Department budget.
• Proficiency with bank intranet platform – BoB Daily.
• Serves as Community Education Outreach Coordinator.
• BankOn Roanoke Valley Liaison.
• Manages annual Virginia Banker’s Association (VBA) Bank Day, Virginia Reads One Book Day, and other financial literacy efforts.
• Maintain and push Department content live on Works24: lobby televisions, music, and On-Hold.
• Coordinate and facilitate necessary items and materials for relevant events.
• Maintains marketing supplies and materials, track inventory, and disburses to branches.
• Assists Marketing Department overall as needed.
