Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
A graduate degree from an accredited University in an applied agricultural field (ex. entomology, plant pathology, agronomy or horticulture) and at least three years professional experience as a crop scout, consultant, technical service representative or research technician is preferred.
Position Summary
This position provides technical support in the department of Entomology at the UGA -Tifton Campus. The individual is a key participant in the planning, design, and implementation of laboratory and field experiments designed to manage pest populations of insects in peanut production systems and post-harvest storage facilities throughout southern GA. Major responsibilities are working closely with the interdisciplinary peanut research team and supervising technical personnel and temporary workers in both field and laboratory components of the program.

Duties/Responsibilities
Coordinate UGA Peanut Entomology Efficacy Testing Program:
• Develop field research protocols based on program goals and industry partner requests for data.
• Work with UGA research station staff to ensure proper site selection, land preparation, and irrigation scheduling for each trial.
• Plant, maintain, and harvest all trials.
• Supervise data collection and data management.
• Analyze data and prepare summary reports for industry partners.
• Prepare reports for publication in Arthropod Management Tests.
Planning, Design and Implementation of Experiments:
• Assist Program PI with planning, design, and implementation of laboratory and field experiments related to insect management in row crops with emphasis on peanut production systems.
• Collect and manage data.
• Analyze and interpret data as appropriate.
Maintain and Repair Field Equipment:
• Perform routine, scheduled maintenance of all vehicles, tractors, and implements to ensure proper function and calibration.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns and perform repairs as appropriate.

• Develop staffing plan to meet program workload requirements.
• Recruit and assess new employees.
• Train and supervise technical and student employees.
• Coordinate staff duties to ensure achievement of program objectives.
Publications and Presentations:
• Organize data for and assist with preparation of presentations for professional meetings.
• Assist the Principal Investigator in preparation of publications.
