Job Description
SUMMARY
The Electrical Technician I installs, repairs, and maintains electrical systems, apparatus, and electronic components of industrial machinery equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Execute the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures.
• Design, fabricate, and implement new electrical control systems.
• Analyze technical documents to inform decision-making processes, including blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, including PLCs, drivers, control panels, transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures. This involves using diagnostic tools and hand tools to identify issues and execute repairs.
• Perform wire connections to circuit boards, transformers, and other components.
• Conduct cleaning and maintenance of circuit boards and electrical contacts.
• Manage the replacement of electric motor bearings and the rewiring of motors.
• Inspect and replace defective mechanical parts, such as shafts, bearings, sprockets, chains, and industrial equipment, are performed.
• Ensure the proper connection of power supply wires to machines and equipment and the interconnecting of cables and wires between devices according to industry standards and electrical codes.
• Conduct inspections of electrical systems, equipment, and components to detect and address hazards, defects, and compliance with safety codes.
• Guide management regarding the potential hazards of continued equipment operation.
• Communicate clearly, timely, and comprehensively with internal stakeholders, including operators, supervisors, and equipment owners.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and always follow company, corporate, and regulatory safety guidelines.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
• A high school diploma or equivalent and 4+ years’ directly related work experience, or an associate degree in electrical technology or equivalent from a two-year college or technical/vocational school and 2+ years’ directly related work experience.
• Proven experience as an electrical technician.
• Deep electrical system, power generation, blueprints, and maintenance and repair knowledge.
• Background in electrical circuits
• Proficiency in operating hand and power tools, soldering, and fault-testing equipment.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Valid electrician license or certification as required by state regulations preferred.
• State driver's license (non-CDL) preferred.
• Forklift operator’s license preferred.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Conversational in any other language preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
JOB SKILLS
• Either significant hands-on experience as a journeyman or completing a formal apprenticeship.
• Must know the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the NFPA 70E safety standards.
• Experience with predictive maintenance techniques like infrared scanning, ultrasonic monitoring, and lubrication analysis.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical diagrams and schematics related to electrical systems.
• Familiarity with Relay Logic, Human Interface Modules (HIMs), motor-driven motion control systems, and electrical power systems.
• A strong safety record, including knowledge of equipment safety protocols, such as lockout-tagout (LOTO), NFPA-70E standards, and handling hazardous materials and environments.
• Capable of being an authority on electrical problem-solving, construction, and installation processes.
• Awareness of national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Can work independently or with a team in a dynamic environment.
• Has strong people skills and maintains positive relationships at work.
• Can understand and follow various types of instructions.
• Can manage and guide external parties to execute electrical projects.
• Flexibility to work long shifts and overnight.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Additionally, the employee will frequently need to reach with hands and arms while standing and walking as part of the role. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Hearing protection in specific locations.
