The Director of Diversity, Culture and Engagement will champion and steward the Scholarship America culture with a focus on staff engagement by driving diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through everything that we do. This position will ensure our people are informed and aligned with the mission of the organization and collaborate with others to ensure they have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully deliver in their roles as a reflection of our mission and vision. This role will work internally and externally to support our efforts and drive our Mission, Vision and North Star Goal. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : Advance a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging across all stakeholder groups, including students, staff, and partners. Lead the overall engagement process to include survey design, execution, data analysis, and action planning. Lead the development, execution, measurement, and continuous improvement of an overall DEI+B strategy across key work processes/functions in partnership with leaders, key stakeholders, and staff. Provide diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI+B) and racial justice expertise to organizational planning processes, policies, practices, products, and procedures. Oversee and support the Diversity Council and Employee Resource Groups – continuing to develop and evolve as applicable. Develop and facilitate analysis and understanding of engagement and DEI+B outcomes, creating a dashboard to share outcomes and track progress. Serve as a champion and resource for change leadership initiatives. Lead the planning and execution of all leadership and staff development, including the administration of the LMS system. Facilitate organizational onboarding for new staff members. Provide thought leadership in recommendations and consultation to leaders in specific business units to create diversity action plans that integrate DEI+B best practices into business strategies and objectives. Continue to evolve the organization’s culture to acknowledge and value differences in identities and lived experiences and leverage these differences to make the best possible decisions and ultimately advance the mission. Review current practices, policies, and processes, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the organization’s diversity goals. Drive the organizational Affirmative Action Plan, including recruiting and hiring strategies and the analysis of statistical data to evaluate the organization’s population in accordance with diversity standards and goals as well as a reflection of the students we serve. Maintain knowledge and expertise to remain up to date on current best practices impacting Culture, Engagement, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE : Demonstrated application of knowledge and expertise in diversity, inclusion, equity, belonging, and racial justice. Demonstrated ability to drive results to improve processes and outcomes using data, critical thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competence, and achievement in working with diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative, courageous, and innovative cross-departmental or cross-team communication and partnership. Proficiency in leading and influencing change at various levels within an organization. Ability to function autonomously and effectively execute reasonable and sound decision-making. Strong verbal and written communication and listening skills both in-person and virtually; specifically, the ability to organize and lead meetings effectively, give oral presentations, conduct focus groups, and construct written communications. Demonstrated effectiveness in leading difficult conversations and managing conflict. Highly organized, with strong attention to detail to produce the highest quality work, including follow-up and follow-through. Minimum of three years of progressive HR or DEI+B experience in a corporate or non-profit setting. Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to human resources, including diversity, inclusion, and equity. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE : Experience working in a nonprofit environment. DEI+B or HR certification or advanced training. Prior experience leading training initiatives. Experience working with diverse students in higher education. Experience utilizing a specific change leadership model in leading change. Bachelor’s degree or experience navigating in the higher ed space. Full Pay range: Exempt ($76,100 - $95.100 - $114,100) This is the pay range for our staff in this position, from entry to fully independent and proficient in the role utilizing our propriety systems and processes. The candidate selected for this position will be offered a wage applicable to their background and skill set as aligned to our business. This will result in an initial offer between $76,100 - $100,000 annually for this position.
