The University of Virginia Office of Undergraduate Admission is excited to announce its search for the inaugural position of Director of Slate Operations. The Technolutions Slate platform has been the primary CRM tool for the Office of Undergraduate Admission since 2018. We seek an innovative and creative professional to lead our Slate team during an exciting and critical time in college admission and enrollment. The Director of Slate Operations will report to the Executive Director of Admission and will serve on the senior leadership team within the Office of Admission. This position will have three main roles and responsibilities, spanning different levels of technological expertise and a variety of functional areas and units at UVA. The first will be to manage the day-to-day operation of Slate within the Office of Admission by leading and managing an experienced and talented Slate team(Director of Data Systems, Assistant Director of Data Systems and CRM coordinator). The second will be to assess current business processes and Slate functions within Admission and the larger Enrollment unit with an eye toward increasing efficiency and eliminating redundancy. The third will be to focus on innovation and evolution and the growth of Slate, especially as a CRM and recruitment tool. The Director will stay abreast of product upgrades, new tools, and best practices. The Director, with the support of the senior leadership team, will be responsible for making strategic recommendations on how the University can most effectively use Slate to recruit, enroll, and serve students. We hope the Director will be active in the Slate community at UVA and on a state, regional, and national level. Undergraduate Admission Office The Undergraduate Admission Office undertakes its work as a member of UVA Enrollment, a unit of four University offices – including Student Financial Services, the University Registrar, and the Virginia College Advising Corps – working collaboratively to care for students from their first contact with UVA through graduation and beyond. Position Details: Leadership, Supervision, and Culture -The Slate team within the Office of Admission at UVA is high-functioning, experienced, and dedicated. The Director will work closely with team members to ensure that they are appropriately trained, knowledgeable, and prepared to accomplish their work and contribute to the University’s admission and enrollment goals. The Director will work closely with all members of the admission team to ensure that colleagues are comfortable with the technology, use it regularly to their advantage, and follow best practices. Additional responsibilities include assigning collateral duties, working with a budget, identifying resource/training needs, encouraging collaboration, conducting meetings and annual evaluations, generating end-of-year reports, and participating in hiring and onboarding of staff. Strategic Growth and Implementation -The Director is responsible for creating a comprehensive, strategic plan for the use of Slate within the Office of Admission and Enrollment Unit. The plan should address current workflow and reporting inefficiencies, process automation, data integrity and system security, integration of data with other campus systems, application review, communication and event portal enhancements, and implementation of new Slate features that support student recruitment and enrollment. Collaborate Across Units and Teams -One of the first projects will be to integrate financial aid awards into the Slate admitted student portal. The Director will also partner with the recruitment teams within the Admission and Enrollment units to ensure appropriate data is used to support decision making. This will include collaborating with the UVA Student Information System team and Enrollment Data Intelligence team on data collection and analysis, interoffice communication, reporting, and data sharing. Staff Training- The Director, with the support of senior admission leaders, will create training modules for the Admission and Enrollment teams to encourage better use of Slate functions-especially data collection and reporting-into the day-to-day operations of the unit. Minimum Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline Experience: At least three years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Licensure: None Preferred Qualifications: Five years of experience work in or with college admission offices; supervision experience; demonstrated leadership and the ability to make independent decisions and meet deadlines; demonstrated attention to detail; experience using technology and data to support decision making; strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; and willingness to travel and work some nights and weekends. Knowledge, skills and abilities: Extensive knowledge of Technolutions Slate platform; proven leadership and team management experiences; ability to problem solve; strong written and oral communication and good listening skills; interpersonal intelligence and ability to engage with, and care for, others with poise, dignity, and respect; positive outlook; commitment to personal and team growth and happiness. This position is an In-Person position located in Charlottesville, VA. Anticipated Hiring Range : $75,000-$92,500 commensurate with education and experience.
