Our Vision: A unified culture that creates innovative customer solutions. About the Role: At Hood Container Corporation, we’re searching for a 1st shift production manager at our Owensboro KY plant. The plant runs Monday-Friday with weekend work as needed. This role is responsible for managing full-time and temporary employees on 1st shift (7 am to 3:30 pm) to meet manufacturing and production schedules, providing overall direction to production floor employees, including production, scheduling, performance management, training, and other related areas, striving to improve overall operational efficiencies during the designated shift. Also responsible for coaching, training, and developing operations personnel in safety, quality, production, problem-solving, and technical and interpersonal communication skills; addressing key issues and concerns; and interacting with employees from other departments to ensure quality and on-time production. Track continuous improvement opportunities where performance issues are apparent and provide leadership/action plans for gap closure. Must possess problem-solving/root cause analysis skills; leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate teams to exceed expectations; communication, planning, and organization skills; a sense of urgency and accountability; customer focus; decision-making, and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. How You Will Contribute: Lead safety, quality, productivity, and improvement initiatives on designated shift Ensure adherence of employees to plant safety rules and that health and safety regulations are obeyed on shift. Responsible for delivery of the production plan to quality, efficiency, and required date. Line set up per assembly drawing to maximize efficiency. Capable of making changes to line setup to increase efficiency. Management of Coordinators, Leads, and production team regarding safety, quality findings, and daily production needs. Managing and entry of daily labor and production results. Resolve problems that would adversely affect the performance of the Area Coordinators and the continuity of the team concept. Ensure the safe use and operation of equipment and the training/documentation of qualified employees. Review all production paperwork for accuracy and compliance. Understand and coach on build/assembly specs. Root cause analysis for quality, safety, or productivity failures Maintain agility, flexibility, and a willingness to modify one’s approach to achieve desired results; respond quickly to changing demands, processes, and updated information. Planned, assigned, and directed work for all hourly production employees; appraised performance and provided feedback needed; assisted in resolving complaints; hold employees accountable as needed; communicated issues and results daily. Quality – Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Monitors own work to ensure quality. Quantity – Meets productivity standards; Completes work promptly. Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager. What it Takes: Associate degree or 3-5 years of manufacturing supervisor experience. Experience with continuous improvement and Lean Methodology is a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Packing solutions industry experience preferred. Regular attendance and punctuality are required. Must be able to work in high temperature & humidity conditions while wearing proper PPE including, but not limited to, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and safety glasses. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. Willing and able to work up to 12-hour shifts. Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 a year
