Summary: This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all financial activities of Southwestern Virginia Transit Management Co, Inc. (SVTMC). This includes providing leadership and management in the areas of general accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, retirement administration and insurance. The Director of Finance is charged with developing and maintaining the annual budget as well as ensuring compliance with state and federal expenditure guidelines. In addition, this position will supervise accounting personnel and their related functions. This position is also a member of Valley Metro’s Leadership Team charged with being instrumental in the strategic direction of the Company. Responsibilities: Develop the annual operating budget Monitor revenue and expenditure performance Perform general accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and retirement administration Prepare monthly financial report and other required reports Advise the General Manager and Assistant General Manager on financial issues Ensure compliance with state and federal expenditure guidelines Maintain established fiscal policy and recommend revisions when needed Manage insurance coverage for all activities Manage the operation of the accounting software Directly responsible for the supervision of all accounting staff and their associated job functions Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field Seven+ (7) years of experience in Finance, Accounting or a related field CPA desired Accounting Software Training desired Ability to successfully supervise and direct personnel Must have the ability to critically evaluate data and provide solutions to issues Strong computer skills – emphasis in Excel and Word Strong written and verbal communication skill Pay is dependent on experience, skills, and abilities.
