JOB TYPE Classification: Exempt Supervises Positions: No JOB SUMMARY The Laboratory Automation & Systems Analyst serves as a part of the UVA- Community Health and. The Laboratory Automation & Systems Analyst reports directly to the UVA CH System Laboratory Director and collaborates closely with UVA LIT team and CH laboratory team members. This role supports laboratory equipment software, middleware, and hardware as a component of laboratory operations. This position supports EMR test requests, validations, and testing processes. Additionally, the Laboratory Automation & Systems Analyst guides break/fixes, serving as the general liaison for all laboratory internal IS needs. Job Duties include: Aligns work to organizational objectives. Creates, communicates, and maintains project reports Partners with UVA Lab Beaker and laboratory teams for new test builds, new interface needs, middleware/software updates, regulatory requirements, i.e. calculations, interface verification, auto-verification rules. Participates in team, project, and department meetings Identifies solutions to complex clinical, business directives, or implementation impediments. Provides consultative services to customers and technologists as to the workflow processes and incorporation of technology solutions. Solves production and maintenance problems, documents processes and creates action plans delineating steps and procedures. Analyzes tasks and problems, determining the most efficient and cost effective method to accomplish work. Implements and modifies test plans for information technology systems including unit and system testing. Develops clear, concise training materials and conducts customer educational sessions. Executes comprehensive testing plans to verify critical clinical or business outputs and system integrity. Prepares standard operating procedures and policies Documents and prioritizes issues with vendor; stays current with vendor trends, strategic plans and technology. Schedules loading bundles and fixes with vendor, systems group and customers. Examines techniques in use and determining appropriate changes to effect improvements, reduce costs and enhance internal operational business processes. Demonstrates ongoing dedication to expanding clinical or business expertise and applies new skills and knowledge. Performs related duties as assigned. Develops data reporting to support laboratory general operations Utilizes reports to facilitate the monitoring and optimization of testing Maintains competency with data analysis software. Conducts gap analyses for operational standardization of automation systems. Checks and controls quality and accuracy of work Prioritizes workflow ensuring all services are performed in a timely manner. Considerable knowledge of laboratory testing names Communication: Demonstrates effective interpersonal communications skills. Engages in active listening, asking questions when appropriate. Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations when requested. Effectively uses various technology communication methods to keep stakeholders informed of progress of projects and/or issues. Maintains good working relationships and rapport with project stakeholders, as well as internal and external clients and or vendors. Teamwork : Seeks opportunities to increase business satisfaction and deepen relationships. Improves team performance by mentoring, training, and motivating in order to facilitate cooperation. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required - Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science, or Information Systems or combination of the above. Preferred – Graduate degree in healthcare related field Experience: 5-7 Years of laboratory or laboratory middle-ware, software, and hardware preferred.
