Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Supervisor to play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees. As Safety Supervisor at Roanoke Cement, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards, develop safety protocols and implement proactive safety measures. This position will be based at the plant and report to the Safety Manager. Key Responsibilities: Safety Culture: Promote and foster a safety-conscious culture throughout the organization, encouraging employees to report safety concerns and participate in safety initiatives. Serve as resource for employees and management to address safety concerns and provide guidance on best practices. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, standards, and guidelines including MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations and industry-specific standards. Collaborate with regulatory agencies such as MSHA and authorities to ensure compliance and facilitate inspections, as necessary. Safety Training: Assist with development and delivery of safety training programs to employees, contractors and visitors including new hire orientation, safety procedures and ongoing safety education. Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of equipment, machinery and work areas to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. Incident Reporting: Investigate incidents and accidents, analyze root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Emergency Response: Assist with development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios, including fire, chemical spills and medical emergencies. Safety Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate safety records and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Prepare and submit safety reports to management, regulatory agencies and other relevant stakeholders as required. Safety Committees: Collaborate with safety committees to address safety concerns, implement safety initiatives and engage employees in safety-related activities. Continuous Learning: Stay-up-to date with industry trends, emerging safety technologies and regulatory changes to ensure continuous improvement in safety practices. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field preferred but not required. 3-5 years relative experience working in industrial manufacturing environment. ·Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. Problem solving and decision-making abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently. Professional certification in safety engineering (e.g. Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist) preferred.
