This position is responsible for general CT operations, including staff assignments and front-line customer service representation. The Lead performs all duties of Registered CT technologist, and is the technical liaison to medical and administrative staff. The Lead technologist also promotes and maintains high-quality efficient diagnostic CTtesting by maintaining departmental quality assurance programs and optimal testing protocols. Produces highest possible quality study images & data. Able to adequately prep patients and provide quality CT guided assistance to the physician during biopsy procedures. Assesses the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and educational needs, and obtains an appropriate history prior to each test. Responsible for seeing that there is supporting information and documentation for the exam being performed. Employs knowledge of the CT technology to determine if an order revision is appropriate, and notifies appropriate individual. Adequately explains testing procedures to patients, family members as necessary, and hospital staff members connected to the care of the patient. Reconcile patient medications to ensure the patients current medications will not interact with contrast media used. Departmental Operations: Responsible for daily Department operations: Optimizes productive hours in maintaining staff work schedules, including daily room and shift assignments, on-call coverage, and PTO. Oversees timely exam scheduling for efficient workflow within the department. Assures that the technologist maintains timely order entry and exam tracking. Sees to the timely delivery of completed studies ready for dictation. Ensures adequate stock of supplies. Coordinates equipment maintenance with the hospital’s Service Provider, seeing to the repair of failures for safe use and proper calibration. Quality Assurance: Establishes and maintains Quality Control standards for testing, personnel and other departmental needs. Balances the daily activity logs and cross-checks exam charges between information systems to ensure accurate hospital billing. Regularly audits staff competency, reviewing studies for quality, adherence to protocol and documentation. Maintains and develops testing protocols with Medical Director. Organizes staff technologist departmental orientation and training on all equipment. Monitors staff education requirements, and compliance to hospital and professional standards. Maintains consistency in the provision of services and staff communications through department meetings and in services. Information Systems: Helps to integrate the CT functions into Radiology and the Hospital. Works closely with the manager in areas of resource management, customer satisfaction, and development of policy. Routinely attends the Radiology Management section meetings. Oversees the proper staff utilization of Information Systems, includingQuadRis, Envoi, Last Word, and other hospital applications. Evaluates and recommends new diagnostic equipment as needed. Performs other duties as specified by the Manager and Medical Director. Accesses patient records complying with HIPAA regulations in line with job responsibilities. Job Description additional task/responsibility: Access to patient records in course of normal operations to conduct the business of medical imaging is a responsibility of all designated personnel. Access of records is limited only to records that are pertinent to the patients care or regulatory requirements and only occur when necessary to carry out duties as part of the imaging team. Confidentiality and protection of all records is the responsibility of each individual. This access may occur for the reasons stated below: Pre procedure in preparation for the scheduled exam During the procedures in care of the patient Post procedure to follow up on care, To QA processes to insure data is correct To conduct retrospective reviews for the purpose of education, research or for compliance to ODH, MQSA, ACR or other regulatory requirements To respond to daily calls from patients, other departments, physicians or Physician’s offices requesting us to access records to review historical procedure record. Documentation of access must occur where appropriate and feasible in log form, comments in EPIC, HIM or McKesson or other available media/format. EDUCATION: Graduation from ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology School. Registered or trained in the CT modality. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Ability to direct, delegate and to function appropriately in stressful situations. Strong communication skills with proven ability to interact positively and constructively with staff, patients and physicians both in person and by telephone. Advanced knowledge and ability to train technologist on all department equipment and teach diagnostic procedures. LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS: 1) Ohio Department of Health Licensure as Radiographer 2) Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Employees is preferred.
