The Western Virginia Regional Jail is seeking applicants for a full-time Peer Support Specialist/Advocate to implement the Virginia DCJS Jail Mental Health Pilot Program. All positions are grant funded positions and will work collaboratively with Jail Administration. The qualified applicant will be a Certified Peer Support Specialist or Qualify to take the Peer Support course that is eligible for certification within one year of hire. Individuals hired will function as a member of a team to provide expertise about the mental health recovery process, symptom management and assist with providing the necessary tools to offenders at the Western Virginia Regional Jail to be successful when re-entering the community from incarceration. Applicants will possess or have knowledge of the necessary skills to provide instruction in Changing Offender Behavior, Dialectal Behavior Therapy-Corrections Modified Skills Training & Wellness and Recovery Action Plans, or successfully complete the provided training within a year. All positions offer a competitive salary ranging from $38,032-$49,957, dependent upon experience and certifications.
