Position Overview: Roanoke Cement, a Titan America business, has an excellent opportunity for a Plant Attendant based in Troutville, VA. This is a hourly position reporting to the Yard Supervisor. The primary responsibility of the Plant Attendant position is to perform a variety of duties including: physical labor, operating heavy equipment and mechanical repair work. Key Responsibilities: Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately. Promote a “Safety First” mentality. Provide feedback on process and safety improvements. Operations: Perform general labor in many variations and within multiple departments. Meet daily production schedule and document system performance. Operate and control various machines and equipment used in the cement production process, such as crushers, kilns, mills, and conveyors. Maintenance: Identify and troubleshoot problem areas and/or breakdowns of equipment.Report any equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the maintenance department. Environmental Compliance: Follow environmental regulations and guidelines to minimize the impact of cement production on the environment. Implement measures for dust control and emissions reduction. Material Handling: Handle and transport raw materials, additives, and finished cement products within the plant using forklifts, cranes, or other equipment as required. Teamwork: Collaborate with other plant personnel, including operators, technicians, and supervisors, to ensure smooth operations and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Training: Participate in training programs and stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in cement production technology. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Trade school or college degree in related field preferred. 2+ years of experience in operating industrial equipment preferred. Ability to read, interpret and comprehend technical manuals and information. Proven attention to detail. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work rotating shifts; inclusive of weekends and holidays as required.
