Job Description: The Director of Lifelong Learning Programs has primary administration of Lifelong Learning programs and activities, including the W&L Alumni College, W&L Travel Programs, and initiating new lifelong learning programs in coordination with campus departments and staff. The director will have the opportunity to creatively expand and broaden Lifelong Learning Programs and engage a diverse audience of alumni through on-campus, online, and worldwide travel programs. The director will be a dynamic and thoughtful leader for the Office of Lifelong Learning staff and the programs that they offer. Essential Functions: Serves as a member of the Executive Director of Alumni and Career Services’ leadership team. Leads and supervises the Office of Lifelong Learning Programs staff. Responsible for the coordination of overall workflow of the Office of Lifelong Learning including personnel matters such as hiring and performance evaluations. Initiates strategic planning for Lifelong Learning Programs by benchmarking peer programs, documenting the Office of Lifelong Learning Programs program development approach, collecting and analyzing program success data, and formulating recommendations for best practices and improvement of Lifelong Learning Programs. Develops the topics, programmatic elements, and faculty participation of the on-campus summer Alumni College. Develops the topics, programmatic elements, and faculty participation in weekend seminars for alumni, parents, and friends in coordination with appropriate academic administrators. Identifies and finalizes destinations, itineraries, faculty experts, hosts, and contracts for W&L Traveller. Initiates special opportunities for lifelong learning programs during campus events including undergraduate and law reunions, Five-Star Festival, Young Alumni Weekend, Parents and Family Weekend and Parents Leadership Council, and affinity reunions in coordination with appropriate administrators. Identifies opportunities, topics, and secures faculty expert contributors. Works with the Executive Director of Alumni and Career Services and the Vice President for University Advancement to identify faculty and topics of interest/expertise for selected chapter programs. Serves as a key member of the Alumni Board’s lifelong learning committee to help propose creative and meaningful opportunities to stream campus events, lectures, and programs to external constituencies and to consider ways to market and give occasional cohesion to such programs. Responsible for deploying marketing campaigns and materials for Alumni College, W&L Traveller, weekend seminars, and other programs. Works closely with the Director of Alumni Engagement’s marketing team to create appealing web content, brochures and contribute ideas for Lifelong Learning’s social media marketing campaigns. Oversees office and individual program budgetary accounts, including preparation of the Office’s annual budget. Consults the Executive Director to propose and coordinate appropriate fees for programs. Prepares annual report for University Advancement. Represents W&L at appropriate professional conferences. Other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and minimum 7 years' relevant work experience. An advanced degree is preferred and previous higher education instructional experience is advantageous. Prior work experience in academic administration or appropriate industry experience preferred. Must have a love of learning and a strong commitment to continuing education opportunities. Must be able to work effectively with a wide network of individuals including alumni, parents, friends of the university, students, administration and staff. Regular travel is required.
