JOB SUMMARY Responsible for performing the skilled job duties of the Golf Course Maintenance department. Implements Dormie Network policies and procedures, trains and manages the maintenance staff, and organizes the maintenance facility. Responsible for daily maintenance, staff supervision, performing daily technical duties—fertilizer and chemical applications, irrigation repairs and maintenance, and equipment operation. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Implements the policies and procedures established by Dormie Network. Assumes the responsibility of fertilizer and chemical applications. Assumes the responsibility for maintenance and repairs of the irrigation system as directed by the Director of Agronomy. Must make continuous inspections of all golf course features and react to deficiencies on a priority basis. Must have a thorough knowledge of fertilizer and chemical application equipment and be able to operate all equipment. Must organize tasks in an efficient and priority manner. Is responsible for tool, equipment and supply inventories. Must maintain all tool and equipment inventories to the initial list. Must maintain all supply inventories to sufficiently handle repairs and not run out of supplies and parts. Responsible for the housekeeping, cleanliness and organization of the maintenance facility and storage area. Updates the DOA on a daily basis as to the status/progress of all on-going work activities. Must be well groomed at all times while on the property. Must be well mannered, display a smile at all times, greet guests, members, and fellow employees when encountered, show appreciation to the guests and the members, and demonstrate a willingness to help guests and members at all times. Fulfill all duties as may be deemed necessary by the Director of Agronomy. Assists in the implementation of the golf course operations safety program. Develops and monitors all regulatory compliance programs to include HazComm, MSDS sheets, and all other associated rules and regulations. Possess an understanding of the game of golf. Complies with departmental purchasing policies and procedures. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Skill in the use of variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repair. Working knowledge of irrigation equipment, such as plumbing and pipe fitting, pump station controls, RainBird and Toro central control systems. Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions while repairing equipment. Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain records. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Work independently in the absence of supervision. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent certificate preferred. At least two years’ experience on golf course or landscaping team. At least two years' experience with irrigation system operation, repair and maintenance. PHYISCAL REQUIREMENTS Prolonged periods standing and walking. Able to walk and maneuver on uneven surface. Able to bend, crouch, stretch, push, pull and move as needed to utilize machinery and equipment. Must be able to visually inspect machinery, materials and course quality. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to drive local machinery, if licensed. Able to communicate with others. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Exposure to outdoor weather conditions - heat, cold, rain, wind, etc. Machinery and equipment may contain dirt, oil and grease.
