Spinal Cord Injury Specialist : Seeking a skilled Spinal Cord Injury Specialist (spinal cord injury fellowship is preferred but not required) to lead our team at Carilion Inpatient Rehabilitation, providing specialized rehabilitation care for patients with spinal cord injuries and coordinating comprehensive treatment plans to optimize functional outcomes and quality of life.
The Spinal Cord Injury Specialist is entrusted with delivering specialized rehabilitation care tailored specifically to patients with spinal cord injuries, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Leading a dedicated treatment team within a 33-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital, this specialist provides comprehensive care to patients with diverse spinal cord injury-related conditions. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including neurosurgeons, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and others, the specialist designs and executes personalized treatment plans aimed at optimizing patients' functional abilities and overall quality of life.
In addition to managing the complexities of inpatient care, the Spinal Cord Injury Specialist oversees an outpatient continuity clinic several half days a week. This continuity of care ensures a smooth transition for patients moving from inpatient to outpatient settings, fostering consistent and uninterrupted rehabilitation support. With a commitment to delivering high-quality care, the specialist remains dedicated to advancing the field of spinal cord injury rehabilitation and improving outcomes for patients across the continuum of care.
The candidate is expected to apply for an academic appointment with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) and will be involved in teaching VTCSOM and visiting medical students and residents in our Graduate Medical Education programs.
