Become a member of our Surgery Center team as a PCA in our Operating Rooms! As a PCA, you will assist with sterile set up, assisting and moving of patients as well as cleaning after each procedure preparing for the next case.
Position Purpose: Assists surgical team during operative procedures. Arranges and inventories sterile set-up for operation, and passes items as needed to the operating team. Assists in preparing and moving patients, and in cleaning the operating theater. The OR Tech is responsible for the provision of surgical care to meet identified patient outcomes and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Working Relationships
Position reports to:        Clinical Nurse Manager
Position supervises:       N/A
PRN Role - Average 20 hours per week
Interpersonal Relationships
As a representative of FACILITY, all comments, attitudes, actions, and behaviors have a direct affect on the facility's image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction with patients, family members, physicians, referral sources, affiliating schools, visitors, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional. Position Requirements
Licenses or Certifications:  Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course preferred.
Experience
Minimum 1 year experience in PCA preferred, not required. Will provide on the job training.

Essential Position Responsibilities
A. Job Knowledge
• Delivers safe patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and according to surgery center policy and procedure.
• Demonstrates ability to respond to patient care and facility needs in an emergency situation.
• Initiates and implements basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
• Demonstrates knowledge of specific responsibilities in all emergency situations.
• Demonstrates ability to meet patients and family's learning needs as identified in the plan of care.
• Orients the patient and family to the patient care environment, surgery center and unit routines.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with patient discharges.
• Demonstrates continued competence in treating, and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
• Provides appropriate interventions related to safety issues.
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.

• Provides notification for unscheduled absences or tardiness in accordance with established departmental procedures as noted by manager.
• Requests scheduled time off according to procedure as noted by supervisor.
• It may be necessary to perform some overtime beyond regularly scheduled work hours and weekends to provide patient care.
• Some on call duty may be required.
• Because of the nature of patient care and pace, this job can be stressful and hectic.
• The job is extremely people oriented and fast paced.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Work is indoors in climate-controlled environment.  Patient care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, to blood and body fluids that may carry infection, to infectious disease, and to chemical and electrical hazards.  Occasional exposure to outdoor climate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical requirements for the position include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and/or feel objects.  Must be able to climb, pull, push and kneel.  Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 100 lbs.  Ability to push a stretcher/wheelchair with a patient.  Ability to wear lead apron.
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO POSITION:
Minimal.  Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
