Who we are:
Mars Hill Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Full-Time Grooming Assistant/Bather in our busy veterinary practice. As a Grooming Assistant, you will support our groomer by providing high-quality grooming services to our patients. Your role will involve bathing 8-12 dogs daily, assisting with grooming procedures, ensuring the comfort and well-being of the animals, and maintaining a clean and organized grooming area.
This is a full-time position paid on commission. You will earn a competitive percentage of all grooms performed and are eligible for incredible benefits. The schedule would be 7:30 AM-5:00 PM, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Grooming Assistant Responsibilities:
• Assist the groomer in performing grooming services such as baths 8-12 per day, brush-outs, blowouts, nail trims, and expressing anal glands.
• Handle animals with care and compassion, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout grooming.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the grooming area, including sanitizing equipment, tools, and kennels.
• Prepare animals for grooming by properly restraining them and ensuring their comfort.
• Monitor animal behavior and report any concerns or changes to the groomer or veterinary staff.
• Assist in maintaining accurate grooming records, including documenting specific instructions or preferences from pet owners.
Grooming Assistant Requirements:
• Previous experience working with animals or in a grooming setting is highly desirable but not mandatory.
• Passion for animals and a strong understanding of animal behavior and welfare.
• Ability to handle cats and dogs of various sizes and temperaments with patience and compassion.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy animals, and bend over the grooming tub as required.
