Job Description
How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:
Understand strategic and clinic priorities in order to support the development of measurement tools and understand the decisions to be made on the measurement results. Works collaboratively with colleagues (eg Reporting Analysts and clients) to identify optimal data sources and reporting procedures. Supports appropriate analysis to measure performance and improvement. Supports Management and Medical Staff with the measurement and evaluation of performance on key goals. Understands the goals of the 'client' and how those goals fit within the organization. Assists the 'client' in determining necessary data and available data sources.
• With supervision, applies measurement processes which are technically correct and efficient, which may include data collection tools and/or databases for important internal and external analyses (eg, Value Based Purchasing (CMS or other), Scorecard, NDNQI, QHIP, Leapfrog).
• With supervision develops effective communication strategies including appropriate tables, graphics, and narrative description or interpretation of minor to moderate complexity, including descriptive statistics.
• Obtains needed external resources (eg, benchmark data) frequently utilizing vendor applications to pull predefined reports and measures, or to generate new reports for measures of minor to moderate complexity as needed.
• Participates with the client on the continued development of measurement processes; assisting with developing new measures of minor to moderate complexity as needed.
• Assists with externally mandated measurement processes, eg. CMS Quality measures, AHRQ measures, and others.
• Assists the senior positions, or oversight committee, in assessing the value to the organization and service of requested data and/or analyses.
• Maintains general knowledge of healthcare data sources, both internal and external.
• Maintains specific knowledge of internal and external database and/or analytic systems, (eg, Press Ganey, SoftMed, EPIC, SAP Analyzer,) as directed
• Serves as a resource to ensure other users produce data reports and results correctly.
• Provides specifications for appropriate data extraction
• Validates data accuracy and completeness
• As directed obtains specific technical knowledge of externally mandated quality and performance measures
• Must maintain general knowledge of coding systems including ICD9/10 and DRG coding systems (DRG, MSDRG, APRDRG)
What We Require:
Education: BA/BS required in a program which included data analysis, statistics, and measurement. (Business, Psychology, Economics) or combination of education and relevant experience totally a minimum of eight years.
Experience: 3 years of work using analytic and or statistical methodology. 2 years of healthcare experience or work in the healthcare field preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Working knowledge of data analysis and statistics including descriptive statistics, graphical display, excellent communication skills, computer technology, basics of operating systems and Internet functionality, basics of report writers. Significant experience with analytic and graphical software (eg, Excel)
