Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
MS in plant breeding and genetics is preferred.
Position Summary
The Research Professional will induce turf grass breeding lines into tissue culture to induce soma clonal variation. They will also determine the stages of pollen maturation that are suitable for haploid induction in Zoysia grass. Mutagenesis using Cobalt-60 and EMS will be researched to create new phenotypes. Further, the research professional will utilize genome editing using CRISPR -Cas9 to knock-out pollen fertility in Zoysia grass. Upon completion of experiments, the research professional will publish the results in peer-reviewed journals and present updates at field days.
This position involves use of a P-Card.
