Job Description
Job Overview:
This position is responsible for the general oversight of the point-of-care testing program of TriHealth Laboratories. Oversight includes: development, maintenance, and execution of policies and procedures meeting CAP and applicable JCAHO standards for point-of-care testing for Good Samaritan Hospital and Bethesda North Hospital to ensure adequate training, testing and test monitoring; ensuring consistent testing and test reporting at all TriHealth point-of-care testing locations; order and distribution of supplies; investigation of potential point-of-care testing methods. This position must work independently but under the supervision of a site laboratory supervisor, and provide leadership for the other laboratory personnel trained to handle point-of-care testing duties performed within the laboratory.
Job Requirements:
Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program in
Graduate of an accredited school of MT, involving internship of at least 1 year
MT (ASCP) or equivalent certificate
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
MT clinical training and proficiency using Microsoft Office products is highly desirable
1-2 years experience
Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrates procedure knowledge/quality assurance knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of CAP and applicable JCAHO standards for point-of-care, preparation of procedures and POCT operator training, preparation and monitoring of quality assurance documentation.
Prioritizes/organizes/handles quantity of work, monitoring processes and ongoing operator training/certification, timely assistance to operators' needs.
Completes complex assignments received/delegated/completed: Maintenance and validation of point-of-care testing data management and testing systems, arrangement for on-going training and changes in processes/procedures.
Produces accurate, quality data management system and procedures.
Communicates in a positive and productive manner with other healthcare professionals managing operators of POC testing, maintaining positive and productive work relationships with other laboratory professionals, investigating avenues of change for greater efficiency of service.
