UC Health is hiring a Part-Time New Graduate Extern for the Surgical Oncology 9CCP unit for the Night Shift at UC Medical Center.
The New Graduate Extern will support the Medical Center’s 24 bed Surgical Oncology 9CCP in delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care, and according to policy and procedures.
UCMC is at the forefront in treating patients with pancreatic and liver diseases and is one of two centers that offer autologous islet cell transplantation for the treatment of chronic pancreatitis. 9CCP cares for these patients following ICU until discharge and when patients are readmitted with pain or infection issues. The unit also cares for acute care surgery, thoracic, gynecology/oncology, vascular and colorectal patients.
Most of the patients at 9CCP are cared for under the direction of a surgeon. Most patients are admitted from PACU, ICU, ER or directly from their home. Nursing care is concentrated around recovery after surgery including mobility, monitoring intake and output and pain management.
