Job Description :
(First Class Services, Inc.): Currently looking for a high caliber & enthusiastic individual seeking interest as a Safety Assistant and Recruiter. Candidate must have a strong work ethic. Candidate must be capable of operating at a high tempo, and ability to adapt in a challenging environment to achieve safety and commercial driver applicant requirements. Work closely with safety director, company leadership, and outside resource consultants, to ensure compliance, certifications, and qualifications are achieved.
Safety Assistant Duties & Responsibilities :
Ø Review and process all driver applicant qualification documents for accuracy and completeness,
Ø Be familiar with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), preferred, but not required,
Ø Request and review employee background reports e.g., MVR’s, CDL’s, and PSP reports,
Ø Track driver credentials (License, Haz-Mat Endorsement, Medical Card, etc.) and send renewal notifications to the drivers,
Ø Request and process annual driver MVRs for review, including distribution and collection of certificates of violation,
Ø Train new drivers on Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and discuss guidelines,
Ø Set up new drivers in McLeod and Omnitracs systems,
Ø Manage Omnitracs (ELD) system and assist in correcting driver logs and run weekly reports of HOS violations, and address with drivers, including critical events, and unassigned drive time,
Ø Manage and track all IVG equipment,
Ø Assist with maintaining DOT training records in accordance with FMCSR, and conduct internal audits of driver qualification files and records for compliance,
Ø Print, manage, and maintain, electronic driver qualification files, medical files, and compliance files in a secure and confidential manner,
Ø Complete employment verification requisitions of former drivers upon request from prospective employers, as per FMCSR,
Ø Assist with FMCSA drug & alcohol program for CDL and Non-CDL personnel, including establishing clearinghouse accounts approved for new CDL drivers, prior to arrive,
Ø Prepare driver orientation packets,
Ø Request former employer information on new drivers,
Ø Ensuring motor carrier transportation permits are current and assist drivers with keeping permit books up to date,
Ø Obtain transponders for drivers crossing into Canada,
Ø Coordinate and schedule logistics for DOT and Non-DOT training for employee personnel,
Human Resource/Recruiter Responsibilities Below :
Ø Take calls and interview prospective drivers interested in potential hire,
Ø Meet and discuss with Safety Director to discuss concerns or incomplete information for potential FCS candidates,
Ø Interview and assist in locating and processing prospective new hires for maintenance personnel for truck, trailer, and wash bay positions for all FCS terminals,
Ø Update and revise the indoctrination packets and required enrollment paperwork for DOT and NON-DOT personnel,
Ø Coordinate with terminal reps and conduct indoctrination for non-DOT employees being hired,
Ø Coordinate reservations and travel arrangements for incoming drivers,
Ø Coordinate and ensure Clearinghouse accounts are established and approved for new CDL drivers, prior to arrival, as part of check-in
Ø Attend Job fair events hosted by local organizations/civic groups for recruitment of potential employee candidates,
Ø Promote, advocate, and participate in employee appreciation/recognition events,
Skills :
Ø Proficient admin & clerical skills
Ø Demonstrate experience with Word, Excel, and other MS Office applications,
Ø McLeod Transportation Management System (TMS) preferred but not required,
Ø Training experience preferred, but not required,
Ø Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once,
Ø Must be able to work in a team concept environment,
Ø Self-motivated and pro-active,
Ø Must have exceptional interpersonal skills,
Ø Good understanding of intra-department functions and operations,
Ø Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written,
Ø Excellent customer services skills,
