Required Education and Experience for Therapist - LMHP
• Master's degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field and licensure in the State of Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
• One year of program-specific work experience or relevant education indicates the individual possesses the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Required Education and Experience for Therapist - LMHP-E
• Master's degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field and registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling for clinical supervision working toward licensure.
• One year of experience working with identified populations served is preferred. Eligible to register as an LMHPE with the VA Board of Counseling after hire.
Position Summary
The outpatient therapist will carry a caseload to be seen primarily in the office but could also provide services in a jail-based setting. Primary duties include assessment and diagnosing, developing treatment plans, completing the necessary documentation, intakes/annual assessments, and providing individual and/or family therapy as well as group therapy. . Participate in treatment team meetings with psychiatrist and other services team members. Maintain all electronic records for client caseload including treatment plans, quarterly evaluations, and outside reports and correspondence when necessary. This position will complete all Medicaid authorizations for clients on caseload who have Medicaid insurance. Participate in weekly supervision with direct supervisor. Residents in Counseling receive hourly supervision with a licensed supervisor.
Related Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of evidence-based practices to include but not limited to; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family, group, and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; sex offender treatment; substance abuse interventions; etc.; Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual's treatment and access to community resources; Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse; Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments.
Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver's license.
