Roanoke County Public Schools is seeking applicants for Behavior Coach - Preschool for the school year 2024-2025. This is a full-time with benefits, 186-day contract position, working 6.83 hours/day. Position is on the RCPS pay scale on Grade 113.
Position Description/Job Summary: Perform responsible human support and paraprofessional work assisting preschool teachers or other professionals to achievesocial-emotional objectives, assisting at-risk preschool students with development of "social/emotional regulation."
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks: The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.
• Collaboration with school staff to include but not limited to preschool case managers, preschool teachers, special education coordinators, school counselors, regional supervisors, principals, school psychologist, Preschool Family Specialist and Preschool Program Manager to assist with development of social-emotional skills with preschool children.
• Assist with developing a preschool FBA and/or Behavior Intervention Plan with the school-based teams.
• Consultative support through recommendations by observation in the preschool classroom
• Provide crisis support to ensure the safety of preschool students and preschool staff. Create supports for the preschool classroom (i.e., weighted snakes, calming bottles, visual schedules, etc.).
• Brainstorm preschool classroom management strategies and provide resources to preschool teachers.
• Support preschool staff with specified preschool students (i.e., model strategies, training in data collection, etc.).
• May require travel to different schools to support preschool students.
• Organize and maintain all files pertaining to preschool student consults within the PKAT Office.
• Create and implement social-emotional activities, support and/or training for preschool.
• Provide support to preschool staff through data collection, assistance in classroom, etc.
• Assist in the analysis of data through various methods of graphing for preschool students.
• Review preschool student files.
• Assist in creation of crisis plans for preschool students.
• Ability to model and train preschool staff during consultation on social-emotional development.
• Collaboration with preschool teams through team meeting and/or networking through administration, preschool teachers, special education staff, and preschool staff.
• Reassignment may occur at any time throughout/end of the school year based on the student needs and changes in enrollment.
• Performs related work as required.
Other:
• Attend on-going training for professional development.
• Meet regularly with the Preschool Department as scheduled or requested.
• Provide coverage for staff who may be absent from Roanoke County's Early Readiness Learning Environment (ERLE class), as needed.

Education and Experience:
• Minimum high school diploma or GED Equivalent.
• A minimum of two (2) years college experience OR successfully completed ParaPro Assessment is required at some schools.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications:
Has strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills. Strong work ethic, highly motivated with solid organizational skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, the public and associates; ability to work under pressure. Very dependable; able to always work independently; ability to multi-task and/or continue a long/complicated task seamlessly through multiple interruptions.
