General Definition of Work Performs skilled technical work preparing journal entries, processing accounts payable, performing reconciliations, providing customer service, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Financial Services Supervisor.
Essential Functions • Prepares journal entries.
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports for the City’s custodial funds.
• Prepares work papers for the annual audit of the City’s custodial funds.
• Performs grant drawdown requests and prepares related financial reports.
• Reviews accounts payable entries prepared by City staff from various departments and processes payments.
• Prepares accounts receivable reconciliations and various cash account reconciliations.
• Processes Forms 1099 and files them with the Internal Revenue Service.
• Ensures travel documentation from all City employees is complete and in compliance with policies.
• Provides administrative support including answering phones, greeting visitors, and responding to customer inquiries.

Special Requirements Education & Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting, finance, or related field and moderate experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
General knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting; general knowledge of accounting terminology, methods, and procedures; skill in the use of personal computers, associated software packages, hardware, and peripheral equipment; ability to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy; ability to prepare financial reports; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, and the general public.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires speaking or hearing and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing and walking; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
