Job Description
Major Tasks Performed:
• Coach, train, manage and motivate production supervisors and hourly employees.
• Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure safe production of high quality products within specification.
• Revise production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure, operating problems, etc.
• Develop and revise operational and work procedures and resolve operational and manufacturing problems to fulfill production requirements and achieve site objectives for safety, efficiency, productivity, failure dollars, quality and service.
• Develop and resource Quality Teams throughout the production environment that are consistent with plant goals.
• Plan and direct production activities and establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
• Coordinate production and maintenance activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
• Analyze production capacity and recommend improvement strategies to Plant Manager.
• Support Plant safety initiatives to ensure all work is being performed in a safe manner. Ensure continuous safety improvement in culture, programs and activities.
• Routine administrative/managerial functions, performing annual performance reviews with subordinates, actively participate in budget planning and fill in for supervisors as needed.
• Develop department goals and objectives, communicate goals with team and engage associates in continually improving every aspect of the portion of the business they are responsible for.
2. Principal Accountabilities:
• Achieving on time production of finished goods at or above expected quality and in a safe manner.
• Producing finished goods at or below budgeted cost.
• Maintaining discipline and high morale within the facility.
• Achieving cost reduction goals through engineered programs and capital projects.
• Reviewing production and operating reports to prevent operational and manufacturing delays.
• Producing products of consistent high quality and standards through interaction with the Quality Control, Technical and Manufacturing departments.
• Providing direction for subordinates to achieve full individual potential.
• Monitoring and insuring compliance to all safety standards within the facility.
• Insuring compliance with governmental requirements both local and federal.
• Supporting and achieving plant, division and corporate goals.
• Managing operating efficiencies in all departments.
• Maintaining a union free environment.
• Promoting a work environment that fosters positive employee relations.
• Improve scheduling and work flow through the effective utilization of six sigma and other continuous improvement tools.
• Ensure site Housekeeping is maintained according to Division standards.
FORMAL EDUCATION: (GENERALLY, IF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE IS ACCEPTABLE, THE CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THREE YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE FOR EVERY ONE YEAR OF COLLEGE EDUCATION REQUIRED)
Required:
• Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of equivalent experience
Preferred:
• Masters Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or other related field
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Candidate must have a minimum 4 years manufacturing related experience
• At least 2 years of previous supervisory experience
• Previous experience implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools to drive improvement such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc.
• Knowledge of MS Office Products and general computer proficiency
• Previous experience with Safety systems and enforcement of Safety rules and policies
• Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills and provide strong leadership
• Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering
• Basic financial acumen to understand financial impact of decisions on the operation
• Strong leadership and development skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others
• Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs
• Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability
• Ability to work with teams and lead decision making processes in a team environment

• Must be flexible to work alternate shift patterns
Preferred:
• Green Belt or Black Belt Certified
• Knowledge of asset management principles and software
• Paint application experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to _25_ pounds.
• Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.

Preferred:
• The greatest challenge in this position is to balance operational and human resource requirements and objectives to provide a safe, productive work environment and meet site business goals.
• The employee must have creative problem solving ability to meet production deadlines whether it be people and/or machine challenges and also be able to make informed and creative adjustments to meet demands when products change rapidly or production increases dramatically.
• He/she must also be able to utilize available resources effectively, develop others to achieve their individual potential and communicate specific requirements effectively both internally and externally.
