Responsibilities & Requirements:
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Pre-Employment Services (PES) Coordinator, the CMA supports the process of medically clearing new hires for employment at Kettering Health. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Welcomes new hire candidates by greeting them and verifies information.
• Performs urine drug screens and saliva testing.
• Reviews and records immunizations.
• Orders required lab tests as directed by the Pre-Employment Medical Director.
• Performs vision screening.
• Schedules and documents appointments.
• Maintains EMR files.
• Performs chart audits.
• Performs respirator fit testing.
• Assists in providing care and performing office functions.
• Give instructions to new hire candidates as instructed by medical director/nurse.
• Assists new hire candidates anytime the need is apparent or as directed by the nurse/medical director.
• Assists with any procedures that have been taught through formal training or by licensed nurse/medical director.
• Drawing blood and administering immunizations as ordered by medical director.
• Follows principles of medical ethics for medical assistant.
• Keeps rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and monitors expiration dates.
• Effective communication with office staff.
• Any other assigned duties by medical director, nurses, coordinator, or manager.
Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
• Completion of an accredited program that meets nationally accepted standards-certificate or degree in Medical Assisting or Medical Office Management.
• BLS certification
• If employee’s practice has issued AED, the employee is required to obtain and maintain current BLS certification.
• Must either have six months of experience as a Medical Assistant, OR, have graduated from an accredited MA or Medical Office Management program that meets nationally accepted standards.
• Within one year from date of hire, continued employment will require successful attainment and retention of CCMA, CMA (AAMA) or NCMA certification or RMA plus documented completion of a Medical Assisting program through an accredited institution of higher learning.
Skills/Others
• Previous experience in a medical environment preferred.
• Knowledge of standrad laboratory procedures and drawing blood.
• Patient, courteous and tactful.
• Ability to communicate and relate well with office staff, ancillary departments and the public.
• Ability to follow direction, accept orders and perform repetitive tasks.
• Computer literate word processing, email, experience in electronic medical records preferred.
• Perform patient screening using established protocols.
• Preferred urine drust screen training.
• Preferred experience with administering immunizations.
