Salary $70,616.00 - $79,476.80 Annually Location North Mankato, MN Job Type Full-Time Job Number 21-24 Department Public Works Division Shop Opening Date 03/21/2024 Closing Date 4/12/2024 11:59 PM Central DESCRIPTION BENEFITS Major Job Function Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these essential functions: Supervision of Fleet Services Managing the fleet fuel program by analyzing consumption, procuring fuel, and ensuring systems and records are kept in accordance with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency rules and regulations. Monitoring compliance with vehicle regulations, license and license laws, and safety and driver training. Researching and implementing new data or automated systems to maximize overall fleet performance and provide opportunities for improved efficiencies. Identify and monitor equipment sent to outside vendors for repairs. Supervises the requisition of parts and equipment; ensures adequate inventory of parts; maintains records and provides budget advice. Document all work completed on work orders and record all maintenance activities in the City’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Coordination and Scheduling Developing, designing, and administering Citywide preventative maintenance and repair programs and procedures with detailed record-keeping. Plans, participates, and assigns work and is involved in the overhaul and repair of automobiles, light and heavy-duty trucks, gasoline and diesel tractors, bulldozers, graders, and other municipal vehicles. Determine operational priorities and resolve workload servicing and maintenance. Mechanical and Technical Duties Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts or systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel emission, brake, steering, hydraulics. Small engine repairs. Inspect, repair, and replace defective or worn parts. Test major components, such as engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, to determine repair/replacement methods. Other Duties Ensure equipment repairs are completed in a high-quality and timely manner. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as City policies and procedures. Maintains a safe work environment, develops standards and procedures for safe work practices, and instructs employees on safe work practices. Utilize lock out/tag out. Supervisory Responsibility Supervise the shop mechanic and create a positive work culture. Minimum Requirements for Position Possession of a Minnesota Class B CDL with air brake endorsement or an equivalent license issued by the applicant's state of residence. Graduation from high school or GED and specialized vehicle and equipment maintenance training. Preferred Qualifications An associate degree in automotive technology, business management, or a similar field. Five years of fleet management experience. Experience with building system (plumbing, HVAC, etc.) maintenance is also a plus.
