Gentry Locke Attorneys is seeking a motivated paralegal to join our team in Roanoke, Virginia. The paralegal will collaborate directly with multiple attorneys in the firm’s estate planning, trust administration and tax planning practices. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, drafting estate planning documents, contracts, and deeds; conferring with clients and beneficiaries; and maintaining organized client files. A successful candidate will be ambitious and organized, and work well in a fast-paced in environment. The paralegal must have the ability to prioritize and see projects through to completion. Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in estate planning administration. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office and the willingness and ability to expand depth of knowledge required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED OR PREFERRED :
• Knowledge of legal principles and practices acquired through formal paralegal training or its equivalent.
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when evaluating legal matters.
• Ability to proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone, and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff. Must be able to convey information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
• Work occasionally requires a high level of effort while organizing and maintaining multiple cases.
• Ability to retrieve, print and distribute volumes of client files and support information. Must be able to push and pull packages, and books weighing up to 20 pounds as well as retrieve and replace objects from shelves of up to 8 feet high.
• Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week. May also require irregular hours to perform the essential duties of the position.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment.
• Ability to travel to private and public buildings, locally and statewide, via private or public conveyance to assist attorney in attending to client needs on legal matters.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
