This hands on Supervisor role is responsible for maintaining all funeral home locations within a given market. The Supervisor and maintenance staff are to maintain the facilities, and grounds, in an efficient and cost effective manner. Preparation for completion of responsibilities requires timeliness, accuracy and quality performance
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with each location’s management to schedule maintenance repairs
• Daily, organize, schedule and supervise the work of the maintenance staff. Staff duties include maintaining the overall appearance of funeral home locations, building maintenance and general grounds keeping
• Perform the facilities role required of maintenance staff. This includes but not limited to painting, unclogging drains, facility initial issue diagnosis and repairs
• Perform the grounds keeping duties of maintenance staff. This includes but not limited to mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, light pruning, snow removal, collecting trash or other debris from the grounds
• Coordinate with outside 3rd party vendors for advanced maintenance projects
• Maintain files for building repairs, grounds keeping and automobile fleet records
• Train and ensure staff observes safety rules and complies with operating procedures of corporate, federal, state and local regulations, including OSHA regulations and Safety and Environmental guidelines
• Assure that staff’s uniforms, personal appearance, actions and demeanor present an appropriate image to client families
• With approval from local management purchase safety equipment and supplies as required
• Maintain proper inventories of equipment, supplies and merchandise
• Assure that all equipment is cleaned and properly maintained
MINIMUM Requirements
Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Certification/License
• Valid state driver’s license in good standing
Experience
• Two years of work experience maintaining two or more facilities
• Supervisory experience preferred, not required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to perform basic repairs including plumbing, electrical and painting
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including, but not limited to shovels, picks, rakes, sledge hammers, lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower and snow removal equipment
• Ability to operate larger mechanical equipment, including dump trucks, and riding mowers
• Ability to accurately use measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, yard stick, etc.)
• Ability to communicate effectively with fellow associates, contractor personnel and client families
• Basic computer skills
• Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations
• Ability to drive to multiple locations on a daily basis

Work Environment
• Work indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions
• Local and/or multiple location traveling required
• Loud noise from equipment/machines is at a level where ear protection is recommended
Work Postures
• Frequent, continuous periods of time standing, up to 8 hours per day
• Frequent climbing stairs and ladders
• Frequent periods of kneeling
Physical Demands
• Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required
• Carrying and/or lifting materials up to 100 pounds
