Job Description
Title: Occupational Therapist
Reports to:                                    OT/PT Supervisor/ Assistant Superintendent
FLSA Status:                                 Exempt
Qualifications: • Valid Ohio Occupational Therapist License.
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree
• Valid Ohio Department of Education Occupational Therapist License.
• Valid Ohio driver's license.
• Access to own motor vehicle or transportation to/from work sites.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Ability to maneuver stairs unassisted.
• Pass criminal background check.
General Duties: To provide an occupational therapy assessment as part of the Evaluation Team Report, to assist in the development of the IEP/IFSP and to effectively implement the goals and objectives pertaining to occupational therapy from the Individualized Education Plan/Individual Family Service Plan. Candidates must have a strong interest in social-emotional learning, interoception, and self-regulation
Essential Functions: • Provide occupational therapy evaluations as part of the Evaluation Team Report process.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and other support service team members to identify and develop meaningful individualized educational goals and objectives developed from the evaluation process.
• Develop a Plan of Care reflecting supported goals and objectives of student IEP.
• Provide Occupational Therapy program which will: • improve, develop or restore functions impaired or lost through illness, injury or deprivation;
• improve ability to perform tasks for independent functioning;
• prevent, through early interventions, initial or further impairment or loss of function.
• Work cooperatively and professionally with local district administrators and administrators of assigned schools.
• Direct and supervise the activities of the certified occupational therapy assistant.
• Function as a consultant with the child's parents and school personnel, including instruction in the use of techniques and equipment.
• Assist in the provision of the specialized and adaptive activities for students as needed.
• Comply with local, state and federal regulations regarding due process, confidentiality and other pertinent procedures.
• Maintain an efficient and effective itinerant schedule to multiple schools/districts.
• Submit all administrative reports and forms by the deadline stipulated.
• Demonstrate best practice and actively participate in professional growth and development.
• Attend ETR, IEP and team meetings with parents and school personnel.
• Able to lift and maneuver 40 pounds of weight, including carrying materials to/from work site and frequent lifting of children with disabilities.
• Maintain required certificate(s) and/or license(s).
• Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
• Attend appropriate workshops and professional meetings.
• Perform all duties in conformity to the adopted Board Policy.
• Display professional appearance.
• Perform in a professional manner.
Other Duties and Responsibilities: • Serves as a role model for educators and students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
• Helps instill in students and staff the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
• Shall perform such other duties as the Governing Board may assign/determine.
• The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the County/District.
• Observes Risk Reduction Safety Rules and Regulations of the Warren County ESC and School Districts, State, Federal OSHA laws and will be evaluated to the extent of compliance and implementation as an employee of such rules and regulations for safety in the workplace while visiting such sites in line of work duties.
