We are currently in need of a skilled Park and Trail Mowing Specialist, capable of daily work activities such as mowing, landscape maintenance and operation of landscape equipment. This position involves moderate to heavy manual labor and consists of routine and repetitive duties, critical to our overall park and trail experience. The ideal candidate has current knowledge of both landscaping and grounds maintenance practices.

About the Position In this role you will:

Operate mowing and various landscape equipment, as assigned in athletic fields and common grounds throughout county park locations.

Perform work with gas powered zero-turn commercial grade landscape mowers, such as Toro 4000D and Toro 72” “Z” mower, as well as new ecofriendly Electric mowers and various equipment.

Maintain both our parks and trails including, but not limited to, hand weeding, mulching, digging, turf trimming, tree trimming, hand collection and disposal of litter, removal and installation of plant materials and trees, line of sight clearance at trailheads and crossroads, and driving on roads and vegetated maintenance areas.

Safely utilize gas powered string trimmers, stick edgers, pole saws, backpack blowers, chain saws, utility carts and other miscellaneous small hand operated landscape maintenance tools to perform assigned duties.

Ensure the safety of active pedestrian and bicycle traffic throughout both the parks and trails, implementing appropriate safety standards and wearing proper safety equipment.

Fuel and perform general maintenance and small-engine repairs/safety checks on all listed equipment.

Use pneumatic, power and hand tools.

As needed, assist with the transportation of equipment using commercial grade pick up trucks and pulling a trailer with GVW less than 26,000 lbs.
Work Hours:

Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
About You Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent education.

Two (2) years of experience, education, or training.

-OR- A combination of education, experience, and training in landscape maintenance.

Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening : This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.
Level II Fingerprinting: This position is subject to passing a Level II Fingerprinting.
