(DSP) Direct Support Professional Team Lead This position description is a guide to the critical duties and essential functions of the job, but is not an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, qualifications, physical demands and work environment conditions. Job Title: Team Lead DSP (Full Time/ Part Time) The DSP Team Lead will assist the Executive Director and Program Director and Program Coordinator with maintaining client Day Training activities and opportunities for community engagement, learning and person-centered development. Work may be performed in a complex setting with diverse people and tasks. Regular participation in meetings with staff and other stakeholders is required. Reports To: Program Director & Program Coordinator / Executive Director Primary Function: DSP Team Lead implements and maintains consistent, professional and engaging programs and learning opportunities to assist and support the individuals served by the Opportunity Center of Owensboro, Inc. This position will also be required to successfully complete and maintain required skills as a Community Living Support (CLS) specialist, to assist the persons we support in specific Day Training (DT) activities, experiences and learning opportunities. Team Leaders are responsible for the health, safety and welfare of all assigned individuals while in the care of the Opportunity Center of Owensboro. QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training, Abilities and Experience: Minimum of High School graduate or GED required Experience in the field of human services. Prefer some knowledge of working with individuals with a developmental disability Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information Excellent organizational and time management and project management skills Strong communication and writing skills: the ability to interact with a variety of people and clearly convey information in writing and in person. Excellent written and oral communication skills The ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as take initiative independently Proficient ability to follow directions and work independently Experience in Google Workspace preferred: Google Docs, Google Sheets, Email communications Knowledge of non profit organization structure and community interactions Knowledge of appropriate terminology for communications regarding persons with disabilities Ability to establish and maintain effective positive relationships with all segments of the community Proficient in ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly and accurately, complex, technical information Ability to operate various word processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs Demonstrate creative thinking and strong problem-solving skills Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers Ability to organize, prioritize and utilize effective management techniques Assists in developing and implementing and generating concise and comprehensive reports Ability to problem solve, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prioritize & organize multiple projects and schedules Ability to remain self-motivated and achieve team-oriented results with tasks, tight deadlines, and limited oversight Discipline in personal time management, self-motivation, accountability and responsibility Professional appearance and demeanor Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to, and passion for, working in a mission driven organization Commitment to personal growth and development on issues of racial equity and diversity, and to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion workforce access Inspired by our values of integrity, collaboration, innovation, equity, and outcome oriented Flexibility in responsibilities as directed by Executive Director and Program Director The ability to successfully complete: clear criminal history & background check; drug screen; training modules Possess a valid driver’s license and personal transportation Eligible to work in the United States Obtain and maintain CPR certification Complete and maintain training/credentialing as required for DSP (Direct Support Professional) / CLS (Community Living Support) providers Primary Duties and Responsibilities: DSP Team Lead will be responsible for supervising individuals with disabilities as assigned by the Program Director or Program Coordinator of the Opportunity Center. The Team Leader will ensure that the individuals are safe while attending the Opportunity Center program and activities. Supervision of community based activities to assure individuals are contributing and participating in the community in a person-center, self directed manner to the fullest extent possible. Organize and prioritize daily team leader work assignments, with an emphasis on identifying individual client needs and targeted programming for development opportunities. Communication with management and staff to keep updated information. Assist in development, planning and implementation of programs and training to enhance the client-centered experiences and personal growth Responsibilities: Provide training, guidance and support to assist the individuals in meeting outcomes/goals per their Plan of Care. Teach and ensure that individuals follow safety procedures. Attend all necessary/required training and meetings. Ensure all required paperwork (including incident reports) is completed in a timely manner. Appropriately respond to all medical related incidents and report incidents to management. Fill “downtime” with productive activities that promote an increase in skills such as socialization, fine motor, community integration, rights and responsibility training. Other duties as assigned by management which may include administering medication and performing emergency drills. Provide supervision to the Team Leads that are assigned to work in the Opportunity Center location.
