Full job description
Job Summary: To provide program clinical oversight and supervision to FCT Clinicians. FCT services will render structured, goal oriented and time limited treatment when possible in the natural environment to families who need assistance recovering from a variety of issues surrounding substance abuse, mental illness, physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and neglect. Services may also be rendered in a Therapeutic Group Home and/or Foster Care setting.
Educational Requirements:
• Licensed mental health professional in the state of Virginia (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent)
• Experience with home-based counseling services, preferred
• Experience with evidenced based family prevention services preferred
OR
• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, substance abuse, or marriage and family therapy from an accredited college or university:
• Education verified by an official transcript with conferral date
• Evidence of an internship or practicum of at least 500 hours of experience with persons who have a mental illness. (Verification of Internship/Practicum for QMHP form)
• Minimum of 1 years’ experience with home-based counseling services
Key Competencies of FCT Supervisor
Trauma Informed Practice
FCT Supervisor will ensure FCT clinicians, clients, and families feel respected, informed, connected, and hopeful regarding their own future. The supervisor will work in a collaborative way with child/family, extended family and friends, and other human services agencies in a manner that will empower child/family. Supervisor shall possess the ability to utilize a trauma informed practice model and guide services reflective of such a lens.
Culturally Competent Practice
The supervisor must respect the culture of HTFS staff, clients, and families. All staff persons providing services with the family must be aware of and sensitive to the client’s cultural, ethnic, and linguistic differences. All staff also must be aware of and sensitive to the sexual and/or gender orientation of the child, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning clients.
Family Preservation and Safety
The supervisor must monitor and address any safety concerns for the child (ren). FCT service providers must adhere to the State and Federal laws requiring the reporting of suspected abuse and neglect. Services must be provided according to evidenced and best practices; providers will build trust-based relationships with families and partners by exhibiting empathy, professionalism, genuineness and respect. The supervisor will use the skills of engaging, teaming, assessing, planning and intervening to partner with families and the community to achieve better outcomes for children.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• The FCT Supervisor will provide supervision for a team of no more than nine , full-time FCT Clinicians.
• Face-to-Face supervisions occur weekly at team meetings. Individual staffing with each clinician occurs at least once every other week.
• In consult with the Master Trainer (when applicable), the FCT Supervisor oversees the training and certification process for the FCT Clinicians.
• Supervise and support Team Members.
• Monitor Team Members’ caseloads through the Open Case Review at least weekly.
• Provide a weekly Team Summary to Chief Clinical Officer to include;
o Issues/concerns with Team Members
o Issues/concerns with cases on team
o Issues with billable hours and steps taken
o General concerns
o Positive comments regarding Team Members
• Provide high quality, family centered and culturally competent services that are effective in:
Ø Reducing the maltreatment of children
Ø Improving caretaking and coping skills
Ø Enhancing family resilience
Ø Supporting healthy and nurturing relationships
Ø Children’s physical, emotional, mental and educational well-being.
• Receive and respond to crisis calls.
• Required to work evenings and weekends.
• May carry caseloads as clinically appropriate
Required Training for FCT Supervisor-
The FCT Supervisor will complete all relevant training and make consistent progress toward achieving the FCT Supervisor Certification from Family Centered Treatment Foundation (FCTF). In addition to online-based training and required readings, the certification process requires videotaped demonstration of competencies in supervising FCT Clinicians.
Specific Requirements-
• At least 21 years of age.
• Experience providing clinical supervision
• Have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and continuous use of a reliable car.
• Ability to work in all counties receiving services
• Well organized and able to work independently.
• Possesses an adaptive leadership style – the ability to assess a supervisee’s level of development and meet that person’s needs as they develop and grow as a clinician.
• Demonstrate the ability and willingness to accept feedback - and adapt their own behavior in response to feedback.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Knowledge of child & adult development.
• Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
• Belief in family preservation philosophy
• Self-motivated, but demonstrating a willingness to accept directions.
• Ability to manage several cases at one time.
• Ability to establish and maintain good community relations with other professionals.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Belief in helping clients change circumstances, not just adapt to them.
• Must be flexible to meet needs of crisis situations, including staffing problems.
• Must be able to respond to crisis within one (1) hour of notification.
