Provides patient care as planned and directed by the appropriate therapist. STANDARD: Assists with therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living, therapeutic recreation activities, and other treatments, for which he/she has demonstrated understanding and competency. 2. Acts as an supporter to the therapist STANDARD: Assists with tests, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures. 3. Performs tasks to assure safe functioning within the department. STANDARD: Assures personal, patient, and departmental safety when preparing patients, equipment, and gym area for treatment. 4. Assist with departmental maintenance. STANDARD: Cleans mats, tables, equipment, and supplies following hospital housekeeping department guidelines and according to therapists’ directions. Maintains department inventories and organizes supplies as assigned. 5. Performs clerical duties as assigned. STANDARD: Maintains written data as directed by seniors and/or therapists, assistants and department secretary. Makes copies and distributes information, distribute mail, responds to requests for information from various sources, files paperwork, enters charges daily if appropriate. 6. Transport patients to and from therapy areas. STANDARD: Provides prompt and courteous transportation as directed. 7. Communicates and works effectively with staff, patients, and families/ significant others. STANDARD: Communicates tactfully and courteously to staff, patients, and visitors. Maintains a professional demeanor and not become defensive about suggestions from co-workers. 8. Productivity/Dependability - Thoroughness, accuracy, and volume of work completed in a timely manner. Reliable, consistent, conscientious in performing job duties. Good attendance record, uses PTO according to policy. Adjusts work to meet departmental needs. 9. Volume of work produced meets job requirements; completes assigned tasks on time. Errors occur infrequently or are of a minor nature. Handles complex and routine tasks with little direction; follows through on assignments. Follows PTO policy. Adjusts work schedule to meet the needs of the department. 10. Management of the Environment of Care - Follows established safety guidelines (which include general safety, security, hazardous materials/waste, emergency plans, life, equipment, and utility safety) in all work related activities; can initiate and/or follow emergency plans when necessary. Observes Universal Precautions; can identify and properly handle hazardous materials within the department. 11. Adheres to current policies/procedures for safety. Observes Universal Precautions and effectively handles all hazardous materials or equipment associated with current job. Can be counted on to follow emergency plans when necessary. Completes annual physical. 12. Judgement/Decision Making - Identifies and analyzes problems; knows when to make decisions or seek further assistance. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Required – High school education or equivalent, or working towards diploma. CPR certification within 6 months of hiring.
