Job Title: Supervisor - Independent Living Program: Children and Family Services Reports To: Director - Independent Living Classification: Exempt MISSION STATEMENT Saint Francis, providing healing and hope to children and families. BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Independent Living Supervisor is responsible for supervision, coordination, and training of staff handling a caseload of youth with a goal of independent living. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education and Licensure/Certifications Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Addictions Counseling from an accredited college or university Prefer Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Addictions Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or Counseling from an accredited college or university. Licensed to practice in the State of Kansas Minimum Job Requirements Must be 21 years of age. Must pass a drug screen, MVR, KBI, Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance check and an Adult Registry Check FBI Fingerprint check Lifting requirement of 50 lbs. Must have valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation Client Population Served Demonstrates competence and continues training in age-specific competencies for infant through adult clients Minimum Work Experience Prefer two years’ experience in Child Welfare. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Mandated reporter Receives training in trauma informed practice and incorporates knowledge in day-to-day practice. Ability to work flexible schedule including being available after hours. Understanding of State requirements and independent living resources available Understanding of child welfare and state system Ability to engage youth and families in working relationship. Understanding of child and adolescent development Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to travel throughout the State. Consistently exercises discretion and independent judgment in performance of duties in conformance with applicable policies, procedure, statutes, rules and regulations. Supervises and monitors the progression of the family process to meet desired timelines and expected outcomes. Handles multiple priorities. Monitors assignments to keep staff workloads balanced. Manages emotions and can make decisions under pressure. Produces reports for external and internal partners when needed. Works independently effectively. Works with others effectively/teamwork Ability to work with diverse population. Understands and practices Universal Precautions Essential Functions Directly supervises professionals, paraprofessionals, and support staff. Responsible for staff scheduling, employee evaluations and resolving staff conflicts. Provides leadership for staff by modeling expectations and behaviors. Provides supervision for staff, including case staffing and feedback related to achieving permanency goals for children and families in a timely fashion. Assures that documentation meets guidelines for timeliness and accuracy. Assigns cases, maintaining appropriate staffing ratios. Serves as relief social worker, when needed. Assures that case plan goals, permanency goals for children, and other appropriate services are established and achieved in a timely manner. Assures youth leaving the child welfare system have the necessary tools to transition successfully to adulthood. Make sure youth are actively participating in KYAC and RYAC events. Available for after-hours crisis intervention. Monitors overall client satisfaction of program and evaluates for performance improvement. Advises Director of the findings. Liaison with DCF, courts, schools, providers, and communities. Manages physical and emotional aspects of office staff. Promotes a positive relationship throughout Saint Francis Ministries. Makes sure there is a seamless transition of cases when new workers are assigned. Works with staff to develop a plan of success to meet state and organizational outcomes. Documents monthly staffing timely and with accuracy. Reports and assures staff report critical incidents to DCF verbally within 12 hours, written within 24 hours. Reports and assures staff report unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels. Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), rules, personnel policies and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state and local rules, statutes, regulations, and contractual terms. Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures Ensures clients’ rights are protected. Non-Essential Functions Prefer a minimum of 40 hours in-service education per year.
