PURPOSE OF POSITION: To lead, direct, and support Assembly Team Members safely and efficiently, to coordinate and communicate with other departments, follow safe work methods, and to conform to the Employee’s Charter principles and plant standards. RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: Responsible for keeping the lines running efficiently and ensuring that the needs of Assembly Team Members are met to produce a quality product on time, the first time with no personal injuries or mechanical accident, and supporting the policies and procedures of Drive. The Assembly Team Leader is also responsible for providing leadership to Production Team Members while promoting the Employee’s Charter and Operational Principles. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS: Ensure daily Pre-Shift inspections and frequency checks are completed accurately and conduct planned inspection audits on each shift. Follow, comply and enforce all operational procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs (Magna and OSHA Standards). Conduct Pre-Shift meetings with the team to communicate safety and/or quality issues and production targets. Fills in for Team Members that need to temporarily leave the line (emergency, bathroom break, etc.) Complete all necessary documentation including hourly data collection with downtime reasons and daily performance graphing. Ensure that all operation documentation is up to date. Operate production equipment as needed to cover for missing team members and/or to facilitate improved production start-ups. Routinely make visual inspections of emergency evacuation routes correcting any safety concerns immediately. Conduct daily safety talks in pre-shift meetings and ensure team members sign safety training roster. Coordinate and assign job responsibility for team members on a daily basis. Maintain open communication and provide continued support to other departments regarding any changes, problems, or special projects. Encourages open communications; confronts difficult situations; maintains objectivity; keeps emotions under control; uses negotiation skills to resolve conflicts. Provide feedback and recommendations to the supervisor regarding team member performance and training needs. Achieve first time quality and efficiency to meet production requirements. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting. Immediately attend to all accidents and injuries. Assist the supervisor with the completion of the accident and injury investigation program (within 24 hours), while following up to ensure procedure implementation and completion. Support company and customer quality systems, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing process and creativity/innovation. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Initiate and administer corrective actions as required. Ensure that all checking tools are in good working order and are calibrated. Support Drive’s Leadership to ensure consistent communication of the Magna/Drive’s vision. Fosters team cooperation; supports group problem solving; ensures progress toward goals; acknowledges team accomplishments. Monitor and maintain good housekeeping following 5S standards and participate in 5S walks with leadership. Support the continuous improvement of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Productivity Develop and facilitate on-the-job team member training -encourages training and development. Provides performance coaching to team - motivates for increased results; recognizes contributions. Help coordinate engineering changes. Understand the manpower needs to align with operation schedule. Perform all duties in a safe manner, ensuring all safety standards of equipment and work area is met for operations standards. Organizes and coordinates the activities of employees to ensure that productions and/or repairs conform to quality standards outlined by the company and/or customer requirements. Ability to assist in training all area associates Demonstrate leadership experience or leadership qualities and work well in a team. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and communication skills, written and oral. Check inventory – WIP Teardown follow-up BME, B/E, or B process for weld and sealer. Ensure break relief processes as required. Shift report – pass down. Assist in training subordinates. Availability to work on off-shifts when required. Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Manufacturing Environment: 90% Standing and Walking, 10% Lifting EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED Forklift KNOWLEDGE EDUCATION : High school diploma or general education degree (GED). TECHNICAL TRAINING : Understanding and ability to properly perform tip changes on lines. SAP WORK EXPERIENCE Must currently hold or be able to attain a forklift license. Must exemplify excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, written and oral. Good mathematical, analytical and organizational skills.
