Since 1978, our flagship program, Academic Summer Camp, has offered a unique blend of academic enrichment, environmental education, and character-building activities. https://www.appleridge.org/programs Job Description: The Summer Camp Counselor oversees up to 20 campers in the classroom and outdoors. They must have extensive experience leading at-risk youth in both settings. Counselors ensure children's safety, manage behavior, and act as role models and mentors, fostering a positive learning environment. They collaborate closely with the camp director and contribute to a friendly, respectful, and honest working environment. Essential Functions: 1. Classroom or Child-Centered Responsibilities: Facilitate educational activities and prepare materials. Create a safe and stimulating physical environment. Enforce safety rules and promptly address incidents. 2. Team-Centered Responsibilities: Participate in meetings and maintain staff-to-child ratios. Assist with record-keeping and activity reports. 3. Organization-Centered Responsibilities: Attend pre-camp training, including First Aid and CPR. Ensure effective communication within the camp and with the community. Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance. Qualifications: Minimum age of 18 years old. Extensive experience with at-risk youth in classroom and outdoor settings. Bachelor's degree in education preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. CPR and First Aid certification. Commitment to Apple Ridge Farm's mission and values.
