Middletown Animal Hospital/Combs Veterinary Services is searching for an experienced veterinary assistant and/or receptionist. We are seeking energetic, self-motivated, customer service based staff members who enjoy client education and interaction with both cats and dogs. Our ideal candidate will have a deep respect and love for animals. Excellent communication skills, stable work history, dependability, the ability to follow specific instructions, and reliable transportation are must-haves as well. Duties vary, but include answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking clients in and out, sending and replying to clinic emails and texts, client interaction, animal care and restraint, client education and communication, and lots of cleaning. The position is part-time, hours vary, and every other Saturday is required. A commitment to teamwork, and understanding that work is not the place for personal drama, along with the ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently. VETERINARY experience is a MUST for this position. Other requirements include: * writing and communicating clearly * typing, taking notes, and using computers * ability to work independently and with the team * lifting up to 40 pounds * having the physical ability to sit/stand/bend/stretch/twist/kneel for extended periods while restraining small and large pets * having a professional demeanor Employees are routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, as well as professional grade cleaning solutions. On occasion, employees are exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.
