Hiring Range: $55,000-$75,000. Minimum salary of $55,000 (salary based on qualifications and related experience); plus excellent benefits package.

Serving Martinsville, Henry County, Patrick County, and the southern portion of Franklin County, P&HCC is a comprehensive open-door institution, accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate degree. Patrick & Henry offers 29 associate degree programs, 12 certificate programs and 38 career studies certificate programs. The college also delivers a variety of nontraditional programs such as customized workforce development training, industry-recognized certifications, developmental and transitional programs, and courses for personal enrichment.

Job Description:
Patrick & Henry Community College is seeking a full time English faculty member who will also serve as Tutoring and Writing Center Coordinator in the Academic Success and College Transfer Division. Start date is August 16, 2024.
Responsibilities include :
• Provide competent instruction in English, developmental English, and English literature.
• Commit to student success through quality instruction and development of learning materials.
• Serve as Tutoring and Writing Center Coordinator (receiving an additional stipend for this work), overseeing the staff of these support structures for student success.
• Maintain office hours according to VCCS policy.
• Advise current and prospective P&HCC students.
• Maintain records of student performance .
• Prepare and/or assist in the development of course materials, for example, course syllabi, online material, textbook selections, course objectives, measures of students’ ability, and critical thinking skills.
• Work with adjunct faculty to ensure alignment of course content
• Participate in scheduled in-service activities.
• Maintain professional competencies by upgrading skills, attending professional meetings, seminars, and/or workshops, and working professionally with other faculty across campus.
• Serve on various college committees as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• A master’s degree in English, or a master’s degree in another discipline with 18 or more graduate credits in English or English-related courses is required.
• The successful candidate must possess a commitment to teaching in a comprehensive community college and to serving the needs of a diverse student body.
• Candidates should be familiar with utilizing computer and other technologies for instruction. Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal and organizational skills are required, along with good recommendations
